The A-10 Thunderbolt II, also known as the A-10 Warthog or more simply the A-10, is a heavy attack aircraft deployed exclusively by the United States and its branches during the GLA Conflict.

Game Unit[]

The A-10 itself, as with most other aircraft summoned by powers, are fast, durable and, unlike other tactical aircraft, immune to EMP effects. Its attack consists of two weapons: a burst of heavy machine gun fire followed by a barrage of missiles. Their strikes are devastating, and a full-strength sortie consisting of three can destroy almost anything caught by their missiles. In Zero Hour, they can further protect themselves against enemy missiles with flare Countermeasures. The initial machine-gun burst usually kills to any infantry in the target zone.

As support units spawned by powers, A-10s cannot be constructed at the airfield or controlled once they appear on the map. They will only strike a specific location on the ground and cannot be ordered to target a specific unit or deviate from their course. While durable compared to other tactical aircraft, they are still vulnerable to anti-aircraft weapons due to their slow speed. The long preparation time of the support power itself also presents an issue.

Trivia[]

  • A-10s uniquely execute a dive when attacking.
  • A-10s are capable of earning veterancy, and even have voicelines assigned for Pilot ejection, but they seldom actually destroy enough to gain a rank and lack the actual logic for the ejection itself.
  • The missiles fired from the A-10 are not a part of its weapons list, but are instead manually spawned throughout the course of the support power's execution.
  • Unlike most of his other support and tactical aircraft, General Granger's A-10's not equipped with point-defense lasers.
  • The A-10 is modeled after the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt currently in service to the United States Air Force (USAF). They perform a similar role as depicted in game (close air support), are equipped with both an autocannon and missiles, and boast impressive durability.
