Black Disciple was an upgrade available to Black Hand commanders during the Third Tiberium War, which added a Black Disciple to every Confessor Cabal team and Militant rocket squad.
Background[]
When Brother Marcion renounced Kane, he took his Black Hand forces with him and began making radical changes. One of these saw Confessors, previously used to guide the masses of men at the Brotherhood's command, become mainline troops to spread their message. As he still needed specialized troops to ensure complete obedience and unwavering confidence, however, he selected Black Hand troopers to become the new overseers.
Game Effect[]
Once the upgrade completes, a Black Hand trooper (sometimes also termed as a Black Disciple) is added to every Confessor Cabal squad and Militant rocket squad.
This addition bolsters the health pool of the entire squad (given the Black Hand troopers' impressive resistance and personal health pool) and provides them with a highly useful flamethrower. Since the Black Hand trooper added by the upgrade is identical to those found in normal Black Hand squads, the upgrade allows basic Tier 1 infantry squads to clear out garrisons and reduce infantry to ash, should they stray too close.
The Black Hand trooper added by the upgrade is also affected by the Purifying Flame upgrade.
Somewhat ironically, this upgrade renders training Black Hand troopers redundant under the Black Hand subfaction, as all of their capabilities are present in Confessor teams and rocket teams.
Notes[]
- As the registered attack range of the squad is the Confessors' range, and not the Black Hand trooper's much shorter range, upgraded squads can fire at a designated target without the Black Hand trooper joining in (as he is too far away).
Trivia[]
- If all infantry members in an upgraded squad are killed except the Black Hand trooper, the squad may use his voicelines in place of the squad's original ones.
