We can now use our Scud Storm!

The Scud Storm was a building armed with nine toxin-filled Scud missiles, mixed with both explosives and anthrax. Due to the range, destructive power, and expense of construction, this weapon was considered a superweapon.

  +
The Supply Drop Zone is an American support structure in the GLA Conflict.
Background
The Scud Storm sits comfortably among the main reasons for the USA and China to engage the GLA. A superweapon in stock, the Scud Storm greatly shifted the balance of power favorably for the GLA, allowing the terrorist organization to challenge both nations despite being the least technologically advanced factions.

Game Structure
The stark differences of Scud missile used in the Scud Storm with one employed by the Scud Launcher suggest that GLA employ more than one Scud missile type. The Scud used in the site is clearly superior, has larger fuel tank and both explosive and chemical warheads. Though appearing to be less accurate, this is greatly offset by the fact that the Scud is meant to be launched in a salvo of nine missiles, which is more than capable of savaging an enemy base.

  +
Upon completion, the Supply Drop Zone will call a shipment of UN Crates every 2 minutes, delivered by a C-130 Hercules. Each shipment is worth $1500, or $1650 with the Supply Lines upgrade. When the crates come into contact with any player-owned unit or structure, it is automatically collected, adding its contents to said player's balance. The Supply Drop Zone requires power to function, but EMP effects don't interfere with its timer.

  +
Occasionally, the crates will be displaced and land a short distance away from the structure itself.
Deployments
The first known usage of this weapon was against civilians in Baghdad during the third day of the siege by American forces.

There was at least one instance of a Scud Storm being used by forces allied with the US, when a local GLA commander rebelled against Dr. Thrax and swore loyalty to an American commander during the assault on Dr. Thrax's compound.

Game structure
The Scud Storm itself has no defense against an attack and is a large target. It takes some time to fuel its missiles and thus can not be fired immediately after construction. As with all superweapons; however, once the Scud missiles are launched, there is no way to stop the attack, meaning the only effective counter involved is destroying the Scud Storm while the missiles are fueling. The shooting mechanism of the Scud is fixed to simultaneously launch all Scud missiles, causing damage to a large target area. However it takes a total of 15 seconds to launch all the Scud missiles.

Ironically, because the Scud Storm's attack is composed of multiple smaller explosions over a wide area rather than a continuous focused attack or a single large explosion, the Scud Storm is often the best superweapon in a match against enemy GLA players. As the superweapon itself would "cover" the target area with anthrax fallout for some time, it is also a recommended option for area denial purpose.

If a player manages to destroy the Scud Storm before it can launch all of its missiles, only the number of Scud missiles that manage to launch successfully will hit its target. Like all other GLA buildings, it does not require any power to function and thus there no key structures to destroy other than the Scud Storm itself to delay its launch; however EMP's could temporarily disable a Scud Storm. Microwave tanks could also shut one down, provided they could focus the beam on the building and are not immediately destroyed. Countermeasures such as point laser defense or air superiority is futile given the missiles' trajectory, armor, and large warhead.

Like all GLA buildings, the Scud Storm will leave a GLA hole behind when destroyed. If the GLA hole was not destroyed quickly a Worker would emerge and begin to rebuild the Scud Storm, at no cost to the GLA.

Variants
All of the GLA generals had slightly different in-game behaviors for their Scud Storms:

* Prince Kassad could camouflage his Scud Storm, to be invisible until it was fired. Unlike other GLA generals, the weapons have not received any changes.

* General Rodall Juhziz replaced the Anthrax load in favor of planting more explosive warheads on missiles, making his Scud Storm even more powerful in explosive power, powerful enough to destroy an enemy superweapon in a single strike, but it will not contaminate the area anymore. However, should his Scud Storm be destroyed, a residue of basic Anthrax would remain where the superweapon used to be.

* Dr. Thrax replaced a part of the explosives charge with more Anthrax, making his Scud Storm less explosive, but it highly contaminated the area. Along with Juhziz, Dr. Thrax's Scud Storm can destroy another super weapon, as his missiles gain more damage due to the toxin upgrade, and the fact that Anthrax Gamma is strong enough to erode buildings. Suspiciously enough, like General Rodall Juhziz, Dr. Thrax's Scud Storm, when destroyed, leaves a basic anthrax residue.

Trivia
  +
* The supply drop zone was originally intended to be a tech building. A duplicate model file including the "tech building" flag exists in the game files.
* In reality, the R-17 Elbrus (NATO reporting name - SS-1 Scud) is a missile designed to be fired from mobile platforms as it has range of only 300-500 (for Scud-C) km. Placing it on a stationary launcher will require the launcher to be erected near its target (and the erection of a massive military installation is hard to hide). What's more - as depicted in game, the launcher mechanism and the missiles are unprotected against any attack, and would have been subjected to an airstrike as soon as the facility became noticed - and since the GLA has no air defense against high-altitude bombers or high-speed cruise missiles, the whole device would be rather implausible.

  +
* If the crates drift into a supply dock, they will be stuck inside and cannot be collected.
* Originally, General Alexander (A.K.A. Super Weapons General) was supposed to have a Reverse-Engineered Scud Storm called the "Tomahawk Storm", which fires Tomahawk Missiles instead of Scud Missiles, But it was removed or replaced by the Particle Cannon. However, the model with the cameo still remains in the Zero Hour Game Files.

  +
* If there are buildings near the supply drop zone, some of the supply crates may fall on them and be collected.

* There is bug via the game which allows the player to continuously fire Scud Storm missiles on a specific target if the Scud is built at 0%. The player must select a worker to build a Scud but to stop him before he reaches it. There must be at least 1 military unit onscreen in order for the bug to work. The player then selects the Scud and presses Q (select all military units onscreen), then does a force attack on the target (control click). Another way is to build the Scud Storm, make a military unit, then put them in different team by using CTRL+NUM keys. For example, put the SS in team 1, and a rebel in team 2. Then select team 1 and 2, and put them in team 1. Then force-fire at a location, and the SS will continuously launch Scud Missiles on the target. Don’t forget to stop the unit before he reach the location, otherwise he will die. The ways to stop it is to sell the SS or pressing key "S" (for Stop).

* Rodall Juhziz was supposed to have his own Model of SCUD Storm, it is Triangular in shape and its Toxin storage to the middle was removed. However, this model was cut for unknown reasons, but in mods like Shockwave revives this kind of model.

When a base is isolated from its supplies, a Supply Drop Zone can add a trickle of supplies to your stores. Periodically, transport planes drop supplies that add to your money. In large or small battles, a Supply Drop Zone can make a difference.
- Generals manual(src)

The Supply Drop Zone is an American support structure in the GLA Conflict.

Game Structure

Upon completion, the Supply Drop Zone will call a shipment of UN Crates every 2 minutes, delivered by a C-130 Hercules. Each shipment is worth $1500, or $1650 with the Supply Lines upgrade. When the crates come into contact with any player-owned unit or structure, it is automatically collected, adding its contents to said player's balance. The Supply Drop Zone requires power to function, but EMP effects don't interfere with its timer.

Occasionally, the crates will be displaced and land a short distance away from the structure itself.

Trivia

 • The supply drop zone was originally intended to be a tech building. A duplicate model file including the "tech building" flag exists in the game files.
 • If the crates drift into a supply dock, they will be stuck inside and cannot be collected.
 • If there are buildings near the supply drop zone, some of the supply crates may fall on them and be collected.
