The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is an American four-engine turboprop cargo aircraft. Capable of short takeoffs and landings from unprepared runways, the C-130 was originally designed as a troop, medical evacuation and cargo transport aircraft. The versatile airframe has found uses in a variety of other roles, including as a gunship, and for airborne assault, search and rescue, scientific research support, weather reconnaissance, aerial refuelling and aerial firefighting.

Background[]

During the GLA Conflict, this versatile and durable aircraft was used precisely in these roles. They were often seen delivering critically needed supplies to forward drop zones, performing paradrops, and transporting important units to and from warzones. One of their most notable deployments was during Operation: Black Gold, where they were critical in ensuring American forces gained a foothold in the hostile region.

On occasion, however, other belligerents seized these aircraft for their own purposes. The GLA in particular were known to commandeer these, most notably in the operations known as "The Great Escape" where one was used to safely evacuate the GLA leader, and in "Jarmen Kell and the Forty Thieves" where they shipped out stolen chemical samples from a raided American base.

Game unit[]

The C-130 Hercules is more or less identical to its Chinese cousin, the Y-8 transport plane, and largely share the same statistics. However, they are affected by the Countermeasures upgrade, which gives them an edge in terms of survival over their Chinese counterparts.

Like all support aircraft fielded during the conflict, the Hercules is immune to EMP weapons.
