The ceiling gun is an automated defense turret mounted on the ceilings of GDI and Nod structures during the First Tiberium War.

Overview[]

Campaign[]

Encountered in the Renegade campaign, Nod ceiling guns are staggeringly dangerous to face due to their constant rate of fire and small hitbox. A ceiling gun takes a few seconds to acquire its target and audibly "pings" when it locks, giving the player a brief window to locate and destroy it. Should the target go out of view like ducking out of the room, the gun will reset to its previous idle state.

Ceiling guns encountered in earlier levels fire bullet rounds like those of the chain gun. The ceiling guns in the Temple of Nod, appearing in the mission Stomping on Holy Ground, fire concentrated beams of electricity not unlike those from the Volt auto rifle.

Ceiling guns can be countered with a few accurate shots from the rocket launcher, laser rifle, or personal ion cannon.

Multiplayer[]

In C&C mode, the GDI advanced guard tower is mounted with four ceiling machine guns. Each gun fires bullet rounds and cannot be destroyed individually, the entire AGT must be disabled.

Notes[]

  • Despite being a small immobile defense turret, both the in-game EVA Data Link and the Renegade Prima Guide classify the ceiling gun as a vehicle.
