Disambig
For other uses of the name, see Chameleon.

The Chameleon spy was an elite covert operative of the Brotherhood of Nod during the Second Tiberium War.

Background[]

The ranks of the Chameleon spies consist of Nod soldiers who wear stealth suits which allow these infantry to seemingly disappear into thin air. Mobile sensor arrays are capable of "seeing" through the cloak and allow the spies to be detected.

Legacy[]

Chameleon spies were decommissioned following the Firestorm Crisis, being replaced by Shadow teams as Nod's premier stealth infiltration infantry through numerous operations during the course of the Third Tiberium War.

Game unit[]

These infantry units are not produced by any structure within the game and only feature in the singleplayer campaign where they are used in specific missions.

During Operation Reboot, a unit referred to only as a scout was deployed on the field. This unit had the same appearance and voice lines as a Chameleon spy, but did not have the stealth ability.

Development[]

The Chameleon spy was originally buildable by the player and were fully functional, but the unit was cut eventually.[citation needed] If built (available through editing the rules.ini file), he functions much like a Red Alert spy, but all of the logics (displaying what is being built and revealing the enemy radar) are bugged.[citation needed]

In the background of a video of beta TS gameplay, recorded by a handheld camera at E3[when?], an unidentified Westwood staff member said that the Chameleon Spy on the Nod side (...) can steal plans for enemy buildings.
