The People's Republic of China, commonly known as China or the PRC, was a nation in East Asia. It was one of the world's leading superpowers in the 21st century.

The Chinese military played a major role in the GLA Conflict, which was sparked by a series of incursions in to Chinese territory by the Global Liberation Army, an international terrorist group. These attacks culminated in a nuclear suicide bombing at Tiananmen Square during a military parade. In response, the People's Liberation Army began a campaign to eradicate the GLA presence in Asia.

Though the Chinese campaign against the GLA was initially successful, the group's decentralized nature allowed it to quickly recover and strike back at China and its American ally, eventually taking over the Baikonur Cosmodrome from a joint Chinese-US garrison. Chinese forces attempted but failed to recapture the facility, which was eventually destroyed by an American assault.

However, after the GLA launched a series of devastating strikes on US bases, the US was forced to withdraw all overseas forces. This allowed the GLA to quickly overrun much of Europe. Abandoned by the US, European leaders turned to China for assistance. The Chinese military soon began a successful campaign to liberate Europe from GLA occupation, eventually culminating with the destruction of a captured US command center in Hamburg, Germany.

With the GLA defeated and NATO having faded into irrelvancy, China created a new military and economic alliance with the European naitons - the Eurasian Unity League - cementing its place as the world's leading superpower.

History

Before the GLA Conflict

In 2007, the Mudanjiang Disaster occurred. Though the nature of the incident was unclear, it was apparently caused by nuclear technology employed by Chinese General Tsing Shi Tao. However, his career was saved by his talents.

In 2009, China became involved in the Taiwan Conflict. The speed and professionalism of General Shin Fai's peacekeeping units were credited with preventing it from becoming a global war.[1]

Modern Way

In the 21st century, China began the "Modern Way" program, which resulted in increased civil liberties and significant growth in exports, particularly in light manufacturing and agricultural products. However, dissatisfied with these reforms, a multinational terrorist group known as the Global Liberation Army began launching a series of incursions at China's western border.[2]

The situation escalated when the GLA struck a military depot at Yecheng, stealing thousands of rounds of munitions and destroying a nuclear power plant, causing severe spread of radioactive contamination. In response, the Chinese government deployed several army divisions in the province and refused all United Nations attempts to mediate discussions with the GLA.[2]

Campaign against the GLA

Today as we claim our rightful place among the world's leading nations, your troops will provide security for the glorious display of our military strength. The People's Army will not tire in our pursuit of the terrorist enemy.

Gen Tiananmen Nuke

To demonstrate its military strength to the GLA and the rest of the world, China organized a military parade at Tiananmen Square in Beijing. However, the GLA attacked the parade and detonated a nuclear warhead, annihilating the Square and killing many of the soldiers and spectators present. Chinese forces quickly routed the GLA forces in the city and destroyed their own nuclear stockpile to prevent the GLA from capturing it.[3]

Gen Bridge Gone

The destruction of the Tsing Ma Bridge

Following the attack, China discovered a GLA cell in Hong Kong and deployed a massive force in response. However, as the Chinese attack force was crossing, GLA forces destroyed the Tsing Ma Bridge, wiping out much of the force. The surviving Chinese forces regrouped and destroyed the GLA-occupied Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.[4]

Gen Toxin Facility

Another GLA cell surfaced near the Three Gorges Dam and destroyed a Chinese base in the area. To stop the GLA advance, Chinese forces destroyed the dam to buy time and ultimately destroyed the cell.[5] Later, Chinese forces discovered a GLA toxin factory in the Tanggula Mountains. They incinerated the factory using the napalm missiles of MiG fighters, preventing its content from contaminating the Yangtze River.[6]

Gen American Bombing Run

An American B-52 Stratofortress bombing the GLA forces in Balykchy

After being driven out of China, the GLA took over Balykchy and heavily entrenched within the city. With air support from the US military, Chinese forces destroyed the GLA presence in the city.[7] The GLA then took over a Chinese rail line and used it to amass troops in Bishkek, the subcapital of Aldastan. To cut off the rail line, a Black Lotus agent snuck onto a train bridge and destroyed it using a bomb. [8]

Gen Nuclear Winter parade

Chinese forces parade through Dushanbe

Finally, Chinese forces located the GLA's Asia-Pacific headquarters in Dushanbe, the capital of Aldastan. For this battle, the Chinese government authorized the use of nuclear weapons. A strike team led by GLA commando Jarmen Kell ambushed the Chinese attack force on approach to the city, and the GLA even deployed their superweapon, the SCUD storm. However, Chinese troops pressed on and wiped out the GLA cell in Dushanbe. The victorious Chinese forces then held a military parade through the city.[9]

GLA counterattack

Gen Dam Burst

Chinese forces being swallowed by flood at Shymkent

Despite their victories, Chinese forces were spread too thin during the campaign, leaving major economic and civilian targets undefended. Seeing an opportunity, the GLA forces launched an attack in the Shymkent DMZ. The local Chinese garrison was powerless to stop the GLA from destroying a hydroelectric dam, causing severe Chinese casualties and flooding a fishing village downstream.[10]

Gen Mob Riot

Angry mobs incited by the GLA destroying Astana City

To acquire resources, the GLA instigated a riot in the city of Astana, which was under occupation by Chinese and US forces. GLA forces and angry mobs overwhelmed the local garrison and destroyed and looted much of the city.[11]

Some time after, a GLA cell betrayed the group and joined the Chinese. The Chinese supplied the splinter cell with nuclear warheads, but the GLA ambushed the convoy escorting the warheads and turned them against the splinter cell, wiping it out.[12]

Gen Soyuz Attack

The aftermath of the Soyuz rocket attack

With the splinter cell destroyed, the GLA was ready to carry out their masterstroke: taking control of the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The launch facility, protected by Chinese and American forces, was planning to launch a Soyuz rocket. The GLA forces launched an attack on the facility, captured the ground control facility and launch pad, and installed a toxin warhead onto the rocket. The GLA then launched the rocket at an unknown city, poisoning it and causing massive civilian casualties.[13]

US campaign against the GLA

After the Soyuz rocket attack, the US realized the true danger that the GLA possessed and fully committed its military forces to eradicating the group.[14]

During the US campaign against the GLA, a rogue Chinese general joined the group and helped them fortify their mountain stronghold in Southeastern Kazakhstan. The stronghold was heavily defended by tunnel networks, so the US military deployed the particle cannon superweapon and fuel air bombs, ultimately wiping out both the GLA and the rogue Chinese forces.[15]

The US campaign seemingly neared its end when US forces surrounded the GLA capital in Akmola. During the siege on the heavily defended GLA compound, the Chinese government authorized American forces to make use of an abandoned Chinese base in the region. Ultimately, the US military successfully eradicated the GLA presence in Akmola.[16]

Despite the loss of its capital, the GLA still controlled the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The Chinese military attempted to retake the facility, but was ultimately beaten back. After the GLA launched another modified rocket at a US naval base in Northern Europe, the US attacked and took control of a railway supplying the launch pad. Aboard one of the trains, a strike force entered the base and wiped out the anti-air defenses around the launch pad, after which a B2 stealth bomber was called in and destroyed it using a MOAB.[17]

Later, China and the US conducted a joint operation against a GLA toxin research facility in Mount Elbrus, Russia. US commando Colonel Burton and a Chinese Black Lotus agent infiltrated the facility. After the Black Lotus downloaded data from the facility, Burton triggered an avalanche using explosives, burying the facility.[18]
