Composite armor is a GDI infantry upgrade in Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and its expansion, Kane's Wrath.

Background[]

Composite armor protects GDI's invaluable infantry troops from greater damage inflicted in battle.[1] As Riflemen, Missile Squads, and Grenadiers would take the brunt of the impact inflicted upon infantry divisions during battles, their suits could be modified with such.

Game Effect[]

This upgrade changes the armor type for rifleman squads, missile squads, and grenadier squads, improving their resistance against cannon, rocket, grenade, and gun type weapons. However, their vulnerability to sniper type weapons is unaffected.

Damage statistics
Cannon Rocket Grenade Gun Sniper
Without upgrade 25% 25% 75% 150% 100%
With upgrade 12% 12% 40% 50% 100%

However, other infantry units in GDI's arsenal remain unaffected. This is potentially due to Zone Troopers already possessing considerable armor, Commandos being highly skilled, Engineers needing to avoid being weighed down by armor, and Sniper Teams being able to avoid being shot at in the first place.

GDI's special anti-Tiberium division, Zone Operations Command, eschewed the usage of Composite Armor in favor of their more advanced Tiberium Field Suits, which additionally offered immunity to natural Tiberium poisoning. They were, however, still vulnerable to the effects of weaponized Tiberium.
