I serve the Emperor!
- Imperial warrior rolling out of the Instant Dojo

Imperial Warriors are the basic infantry units of the Empire of the Rising Sun in Red Alert 3.

Background[]

Drawing from a vast pool of young Japanese men (through drafting or voluntary enlistment), the ranks of Imperial Warriors are filled with fanatically-loyal and well-trained warriors armed with cutting-edge equipment. Each Imperial Warrior is unflinchingly loyal to the Emperor and adheres to the code of Bushido; he considers fighting and dying for the Emperor to be the greatest honour.

Imperial Warriors are seen to be wearing khaki-coloured uniforms and advanced body armour. The armour consists of a helmet with an optional faceplate and a thick vest with a personal power supply used by the MX Type-2 kinetic carbine and the beam katana. The carbine fires superheated slugs capable of lacerating and severely burning unarmoured targets. The beam katana is a mass-produced sword that can be temporarily superheated, creating an incredibly deadly melee weapon.

As a result of their training, it is common practice for Imperial Warriors to charge against their enemies using their katanas. This is mainly done to clear garrisoned buildings.

When it became apparent that the Empire was losing the war, a small fraction of the Imperial warriors cracked under pressure, refusing orders to fall back and channeling unspeakable rage into their bloody work. As punishment, the most experienced of them were sealed within DevilCoat suits created by Ten-Shi Zaibatsu, turning them into fearsome weapons of war known as the Steel Ronin.

Game unit[]

The Imperial Warrior is one of Empire of the Rising Sun's basic infantry alongside the Tankbuster and serve the anti-infantry role while the Tankbusters handle the anti-vehicle and anti-structure roles. Being the middle infantry compared to the cheaper Conscripts and the better equipped Peacekeepers, the Imperial Warrior can be expected to beat the Conscript but will lose to the Peacekeeper despite having slightly more bulk. The Imperial Warrior tends to fare better against Conscripts and struggle a bit against the Peacekeepers: Conscripts' molotovs aren't particularly helpful against the Imperial Warriors, while the Peacekeepers can knock down a charging warrior if micromanaged properly, while the Riot Shield protects the Peacekeeper from the Imperial Warrior's blade.

The Imperial Warrior's Banzai Charge is a useful ability due to the increased movement speed. While it isn't always the better option offensively, it is a great ability to cover distance quickly and avoid vehicle crushes. Moreover, the warrior is immune to the scout animals' roar/bark ability while the banzai charge is active, and are cheaper allowing them to trade favorably, however small that may be. This is especially true of the War bear, which can stand up to 3 Imperial Warrior bursts while the Attack dog will die to one Imperial Warrior. It is also their anti-garrison ability, allowing the Imperial Warrior to clear one infantry out at the cost of his own life.
