The mod expands upon the original game's C&C mode, adding new gameplay elements such as capturable tech buildings, upgrades, and naval warfare. The mod also features weapons and vehicles from both the Red Alert series and real life (World War II to modern era).
Interim Apex offers over 40 different vehicles to each team, allowing for a large variety with a potential for unique gameplay in each match. New aircraft and naval warfare are also included.
New and tech buildings
On some maps, both teams have a Construction Yard that not only auto repairs buildings but also allow players to purchase them back should they be destroyed. Other maps may include tech and "Forgotten" buildings, such as defenses and factories that allow one to produce unique vehicles and even naval ships.
Players can acquire veteran points upon destroying enemy targets that would grant them or their vehicle more health, armour, and gain weapons or vehicles on the spot.
The economy is still primarily managed through credits generated by AI harvesters, although there are several additions that expand upon this feature. Players can now capture supply trucks filled with Tiberium for extra credits, purchase and drive harvesters that can collect different and more valuable variants of Tiberium, or capture silos which automatically generate credits over time.
