Lately, I've seen a lot of Mental Omega references and it's prevalent that there are more of it in this wiki than any other known Red Alert 2 mod as far as I know. It is understandable that it is a popular mod (especially in recent times), but then it seems you're against putting these references in the first place (at least based from the Mental Omega forums). So do we keep these references (at least the reasonable ones) or to quote the Apocalypse tank, "Eradicate them" ?  Bot Rot (talk) 12:46, March 28, 2017 (UTC)

It appears that all links that are directed at supposedly the official website and forums for Command and Conquer 4 (with all information about it) are obsolete since EA seems to have deleted such content and just redirects to the current "home page" for Command & Conquer in general (e.g. This link that should lead to Developer QA Session Number 4, <u>http://www.commandandconquer.com/news/developer-qa-session-number-4 </u> now leads to <u>https://www.ea.com/games/command-and-conquer</u> currently; reference is from Engineer (Tiberian Twilight) ).

Hey Sheldon, I've got something that need your help with. My friend at the Generals 2 mod team is revamping G2's models, but he can't find any reference pics of the Railgun tank from behind. Can you help me find some high quality screenshots? Sorry for not replying sooner. Yeah, I think we should definitely concentrate our efforts, especially since it's basically just the two of us against about twenty billion horribly written articles. How about we focus on the Generals 1 units first? There seems to be a ton of fanfic and false contents in those. (Seriously, have you seen how much bullshit there were in the Hijacker page before I editted it?)

Freedom Consortium and Asian Defense League. Are these two pages just fanfic? Because as far as I know, these two organizations were only mentioned once in the RA1 manual, and we know literally nothing else about them. I'm asking because if they are, we can simply delete the Mongolia page too, because that page's also plagued with fanfics (it was created by the unspeakable horror that wrote most of the Commander's Challenge pages *shudders*)

Also, on that note, should we restructure how we handle location articles? Edit war issue

Just raising concerns about the actions of the following user - http://cnc.gamepedia.com/User:Geekius_Maximus
User keep on going adding his speculations, contradicting the game's lore here - http://cnc.gamepedia.com/Commando_(Tiberian_Dawn)?action=history , despite having been presented with evidence ( here - http://cnc.gamepedia.com/Commando_(Tiberian_Dawn)?oldid=185781 (look in weaponry issue in the stats table) , here - http://cnc.gamepedia.com/User_talk:Geekius_Maximus , and here - http://cnc.gamepedia.com/Talk:Commando_(Tiberian_Dawn) ). As far as I am confident, the game's manual is a source of lore for corrensponding game and I assumed, it values more than personal speculations. But - since edit war is commencing, I humbly ask for your opinion as an admin to resolve it

Japanese translations?

Hey there,

I've noticed that a fair few pages have been edited to include a Japanese translation of the unit / structure name, particularly from Tiberium Wars. I've narrowed the edits down to being made by the following user.

http://cnc.gamepedia.com/Special:Contributions/112.203.210.2

I was wondering if these edits are really necessary? Maybe there's a better way of handling the translations? Just thought you should be aware of it.

Jonesy95 (talk) 05:18, November 6, 2014 (UTC)

Hello, Like most gamers and fans of the real time strategies, I'm a big fan of the series C&C since it has been established by Westwood studios. These were the first strategies that I've ever played in my life. I grew up with Dun 1 and Red Alert 1 which left an unforgettable impression on me. These two games as well as the subsequent series - Tiberian dawn, Tiberian Sun, Tiberium wars, stimulated my imagination and inspired me to write a novel that takes place in a fictional universe, similar to that of Tiberian Sun. As a gamer and a novice writer I try to reach as many of the rank and file fans of Command & Conquer and the readers of science fiction and postapokalipsis. So I want to ask for your help, assistance and permission to post a topic in your forums with a link as follows: http://www.amazon.com/Red-Star-Rising-TERRIUM-Book-ebook/dp/B017RPY434/ref=sr_1_35?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1447272180&sr=1-35&refinements=p_n_date%3A1249101011&pebp=1447272191267&perid=04JS87FCVY90HPBXCNAR to my book distributed at Amazon.com. If you do not mind I would like to ask you as well to put the same link on your the Facebook page if you have it. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Looking forward for your response.

Greetings, V.Androvski.

About categories...

Can you take a look at the categories? Because I am seeing a LOT of redundant ones with only one or two pages or images in them. I've already put some of the ones I found into Veinhole Monster, but there are still many more. Ssskoopa (talk) 03:39, February 11, 2016 (UTC)

About articles for deletion...

Can you take a look at the articles for deletion, please? Many of the articles in that category hasn't been deleted for years. Especially the images, since I tagged a whole bunch of low res/unused images for deletion.

Ssskoopa (talk) 12:26, March 14, 2016 (UTC)

As for Anime and Hammer and sickle, I've decided to put redirects to Wikipedia articles on them, since many pages link to them. When deleting articles, it's important to remove links to the deletion candidate as soon as possible. I do not know if you have access to this feature, but you can try use the Special:WhatLinksHere/(page name) page to see all the links. Same goes for the categories: even if you delete them, references to them will stay and someone will still be able to remake them. At least with them, removing references should be rather easy. CNC1 Nod Emblem Sheldonist (yell!) 19:30, March 14, 2016 (UTC)

Duplicate scenarios

I just had a look through the Tiberium Wars missions, and spotted some more duplicates:

GDI campaign
Nod campaign

In addition, there are two pages in the category for Nod missions that aren't actually missions: Campaign of Brazil and Battle of Sydney. I don't have an opinion on whether they should stay there or not, I'm just mentioning it.Narve (talk) 14:50, April 2, 2016 (UTC)

Will attend to these soon. Thank you for hunting these down! CNC1 Nod Emblem Sheldonist (yell!) 14:51, April 2, 2016 (UTC)
Any idea what we should do with them? Which ones do we keep and which ones do we turn into redirects? Ssskoopa (talk) 04:13, February 4, 2017 (UTC)
Wow, I seem to forget a lot of things. Well, I'd give priority to the actual mission titles. However, the loading screens, theater menus and saved game strings only give locations rather than conventional mission names in Tiberium Wars, so I'd like to know where the names like "Establishing a Foothold" and "Stranded in Stuttgart" come from. Unless there is evidence for otherwise, I guess it's safe to use names as they appear in the game (like Albania (GDI mission)). http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 23:05, February 12, 2017 (UTC)

CNC3 GDI Intel

hi Sheldonist, I edited the intelligence database page and you reversed the changes. I am here to say that I have been playing through the GDI campaign of CNC3, destroying stuff at the Cairo base entrance does not give me the intel, the intel showed up after I destroyed a structure called the Nod compound HQ (or nod base hq, I am not sure) to the southeast of the silo structure, right down the ramped road.(not the mission structures that you need to destroy, but a building right next to the missile silo) I completed the mission on hard, so I am not sure about other difficulties. please test it out and if it is true then edit the intelligence database page accordingly. and also, please forgive me for any formatting errors, I am completely new to wiki editing, thanks for all the contributions!

About the RA3 Soviet Commander

Hey Sheldonist, I'm gonna need your help with this one, the article for the RA3 Soviet Commander seems to be focused solely on the Soviet version of the RA3 campaign, yet there's a paragraph about his role in Uprising, which happens after the Allied campaign (it also assumes that the commander in Uprising is the same as the one from RA3, which I'm not sure is true). What do you think I should do to clean up that one?

On an unrelated note, the "Role in Red Alert 3" segment of that article is way, way, WAY too long. And most of it has nothing to do with the Commander himself since it's about what his troops did during each mission. I think I'm going to rewrite the entire section completely later.

Ssskoopa (talk) 14:42, May 27, 2016 (UTC)

To be frank, I didn't play Uprising much, so I'd rely on YouTube gameplay videos and cutscenes to investigate his story. Agreed on the TMI with the "Role in Red Alert 3" section. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 09:03, May 28, 2016 (UTC)

The Aftermath changes came with the 2.0 version, but it is only with Aftermath enabled in the game. Normal Red Alert still used 2.0 and over but without the changes so I wouldn't classify them as a version update. AndrewFord (talk) 15:21, June 8, 2016 (UTC)

Actually, what I meant was whether the changes you listed were introduced in 2.0 or 3.0x. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 06:47, June 9, 2016 (UTC)

Regarding the APA...

According to info from the now defunct official site, the full name of APA is ASIA-Pacific Alliance, not ASIAN-Pacific Alliance. So... Can you help me correct every instance of "Asian-Pacific Alliance"? Ssskoopa (talk) 09:28, August 13, 2016 (UTC)

I can't find much on that exact name apart from one interview with JVC and the APA Faction Focus from gamescom 2013. I've been around when these things were revealed one by one, and we'd all use "Asian-Pacific Alliance" community-wide (and I definitely don't discount the possibility of errors on the official webmaster's part). See this for the first instance of "Asian", which was, IIRC, the first ever look at APA itself. I'll have to discuss with people who may have had alpha access to confirm. Good eye, though. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 19:47, August 13, 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, even the official profile for the Taskmaster uses "Asian". Though the real world term seems to be "Asia-Pacific", not "Asian-Pacific", like APEC. Ssskoopa (talk) 06:16, August 14, 2016 (UTC)

Regarding inter-language link

Hey Sheldonist, do you know how to remove this wiki's link to the Chinese version of cnc.gamepedia.com? That wiki is dedicated to some card game called "Chain Chronicle" and has nothing to do with CNC. Yet everytime I open the wiki, it shows a link to the Chinese wiki at the top of my screen.

Ssskoopa (talk) 10:41, August 23, 2016 (UTC)

I'm afraid I don't see this. Can you tell me where exactly this is shown? http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 20:58, August 23, 2016 (UTC)

This is very odd. You don't seem to even have the proper background. Tell me which browser you use so I can raise this issue with Wiki staff. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 11:45, August 24, 2016 (UTC)
Chrome, latest version. Ssskoopa (talk) 08:42, August 25, 2016 (UTC)
I've discovered why. It's located at http://zh.cnc.gamepedia.com, which acts as if it's an alternate language version of our wiki (like our underdeveloped German version) and shows this if your browser is set to Chinese. I have posted in the main Wiki community, we'll see an answer soon. Thank you very much for reporting! http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 12:22, August 25, 2016 (UTC)
This should now be resolved. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 21:24, August 26, 2016 (UTC)

Question about LEGION

LEGION's page mentions that it acts as Nod's EVA in CNC4, is that true? Because I'm pretty sure LEGION isn't in CNC4, and CNC4 Nod's EVA is just a regular EVA (it even says Electronic Voice Agent when shut down) Ssskoopa (talk) 14:38, September 16, 2016 (UTC)

Redundant page?

Hey there. I couldn't help but notice someone made a page here for describing the veterancy system in Generals. Sure enough, the pre-existing veterancy page here already describes the system in more depth. So, I figured you might want to delete the former page, if you deem it unnecessary. Jonesy95 (talk) 01:58, December 5, 2016 (UTC)

Well noticed, I will deal with it shortly. Thank you! http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 22:34, December 5, 2016 (UTC)

Need your help

Everytime I try to visit a page that uses Template: Tiberian Twilight GDI Arsenal, the page flashes for a second before turning completely white. Other pages don't have this problem, do you have any idea how I can fix this? Ssskoopa (talk) 04:46, January 18, 2017 (UTC)

This happens to me with various pages, and it's only for this wiki.

Panzerhund 07:38, January 18, 2017 (UTC)

Yeah... Turns out it was because I accidentally f-d up the template when I was trying to add a few entries... Sorry about that. It should be fine now. Ssskoopa (talk) 12:27, January 18, 2017 (UTC)

Odd, the template history seems to show alright. Did you discover what the problem was? Also, on a less related note, Ssskoopa, could we arrange a time so we can share Skype details in the Wiki chat? I'd like to have a hotline with you for Wiki matters. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 19:19, January 18, 2017 (UTC)
I think I messed up a few lines of code in the table section. For some reason the preview seems fine but it fucks up the page it's on once you save it. Also, I don't really know how to use the Wiki chat. Ssskoopa (talk)
The Wiki chat is very simple, you just click on Start a Chat and you're in. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 12:28, January 19, 2017 (UTC)
Hey Sheldon, you online right now? Can we chat? Ssskoopa (talk) 14:25, January 22, 2017 (UTC)

Sir, on the Light Infantry page you said "please stop adding this self apparent nonsense" I would like to say a few things.

1. When you said "please stop" you implied/suggested that I have been continually adding obvious information, I have not.

2. I added it to inform readers that Light Infantry are a good, all purpose unit that can be used for early defense.

3. I was also using the phrase "they can be amassed easily due to there low cost" as a warning to users that they need to be careful of mass rushes of Light Infantry, I myself use these tactics.

Thank you for listening to me. If you decide to add what I added back, then please tell me, if you want it changed to be more informative, then I can do that. If you don't do anything, then, again, I thank you for your consideration and courtesy to read this.

This is a prevalent issue that us admins noticed on the Wiki from several people (I really didn't check if it was you or anyone else, though), which is the "good in numbers" statement. Realistically, that goes for every unit in every C&C game (with the only notable exception being Technicians), and basically every RTS. Honestly, just amass anything and you'll be blowing everything to smithereens in no time. It adds no value to the articles and is indeed unnecessary. Sorry for the rude "slap" on my end, but after having to clean the Wiki of these and worse additions to the Wiki for quite a while, the frustration just builds up. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 20:54, February 13, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Patches

Personally I prefer the infobox approach, the existing RA 3 patches page is orphaned, and the naming scheme is completely wrong too (seriously, "Red Alert 3 (Patch)"?). So I suggest you go ahead with the infobox and transfer all the info from that page into the infoboxes. Ssskoopa (talk) 10:40, February 14, 2017 (UTC)

Is this wiki only for units, or can there be strategy pages here to?--UEFunite (talk) 14:43, March 10, 2017 (UTC)

Generally, this wiki is for things that are "tangible" - games themselves, units/buildings, characters, missions etc. Strategies can be covered in the units' articles if they are commonly used by the multiplayer community, or some mission walkthroughs that are plausible. Alternatively, you can make blog posts about them. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 16:40, March 10, 2017 (UTC)

Ok. I was wondering if you could help me make pages for the second half of the renegade campaign. I'm not to good with how templates work, but I know what happens in the missions. So, can we work together to finish the renegade campaign?--UEFunite (talk) 17:59, March 13, 2017 (UTC)

Concerning Mental Omega references

Lately, I've seen a lot of Mental Omega references and it's prevalent that there are more of it in this wiki than any other known Red Alert 2 mod as far as I know. It is understandable that it is a popular mod (especially in recent times), but then it seems you're against putting these references in the first place (at least based from the Mental Omega forums). So do we keep these references (at least the reasonable ones) or to quote the Apocalypse tank, "Eradicate them" ? Bot Rot (talk) 12:46, March 28, 2017 (UTC)

I think we can remove most of them, except the most prominent ones like the Centurion walker. MO now has its own wiki anyway. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 19:28, March 29, 2017 (UTC)

About some references in C&C 4 pages...

It appears that all links that are directed at supposedly the official website and forums for Command and Conquer 4 (with all information about it) are obsolete since EA seems to have deleted such content and just redirects to the current "home page" for Command & Conquer in general (e.g. This link that should lead to Developer QA Session Number 4, http://www.commandandconquer.com/news/developer-qa-session-number-4 now leads to https://www.ea.com/games/command-and-conquer currently; reference is from Engineer (Tiberian Twilight) ).

Even though I have little knowledge of C&C 4 outside of its terrible history, even I find these links no longer useful. So does that mean that all of said links should be deleted to prevent confusion? Bot Rot (talk) 14:04, April 27, 2017 (UTC)

No, such references must not be removed. These sites did exist. The best we can do at this point is try to access those pages through Archive.org. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 15:58, April 27, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Juggernaut page titles

I looked up and down and I cannot find an official media that calls the Behemoth "Juggernaut Mk. II" anywhere. I say we do to them what we did to the Orcas. Change their page names to Juggernaut (Firestorm), Behemoth, Juggenaut (Tiberium Wars), etc. What do you think?

Also, is there a way to automatically change page links? Maybe a bot or something? It's gonna be a pain in the ass changing all those links manually. Ssskoopa (talk) 10:45, May 30, 2017 (UTC)

I think there's a tool to change all links to the official title of an article, I'll look for the tool during the day. Someone used that tool to change all links from "Red Alert 2" to "Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2", much to my dismay. Also, I agree on the Juggernaut. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 11:00, June 1, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Firestorm

Hey Sheldon, I've been editing the timeline, and can you tell me if there is any canon info on what year did Firestorm happen? Ssskoopa (talk) 06:35, June 4, 2017 (UTC)

Not that I'm aware of. By canon, Tiberian Sun is set in 2030, and Act I of Kane's Wrath is in 2034 and it is clear it takes place after Firestorm. The infobox on the Firestorm Crisis article says it's 2031-2032, though I don't know where that came from. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 08:26, June 4, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Joshua Mitchell

I've been wondering for a long time: Is there any indication in the game that Daniel Kucan's character in Kane's Wrath is Joshua Mitchell? I thought he was just some random Steel Talons commander. Is it mentioned on the cast list or something? Ssskoopa (talk) 12:23, June 5, 2017 (UTC)

Hm, good point. He did look youngish for someone with the status of a general, and did report to a superior at the end of A Grand Gesture, though I don't know where the original idea of tieing the two came from, so I just went with it. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 07:39, June 6, 2017 (UTC)

Re: War Miner

The reason I changed it was because the links in the heading of the war miner page, the first and second iterations of the Third World War part, both links go to the same place, the main Red Alert 2 page. Shouldn't the second link at least go to the Yuri's Revenge page? That's why I changed it. Lemme know if I did something wrong. Gphoenix51 (talk) 09:15, June 6, 2017 (UTC)

Good eye! It was a mistake when cleaning the article. The actual name of the article is Third World War (Yuri's Revenge), and Psychic Dominator Disaster redirects to it. We're working to discontinue some unnecessary redirects and poor article names, so that is why it's named like that at present. Thanks for noticing! http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 10:29, June 6, 2017 (UTC)
Ok, cool. I understand now. Thanks for the heads up. Gphoenix51 (talk) 10:39, June 6, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Yuriko's notes from the field

I know that paragraph is from the official profile, but I really don't think we should put it there there when the history section above literally says "there are clones of her". It confuses readers. (not to mention that paragraph in the profile was a Suspiciously Specific Denial anyway) I've already tried to address this by saying "the Allied thought there were no carbon copies of her but they were wrong" in history. Ssskoopa (talk) 13:55, June 8, 2017 (UTC)

Sigh. I'll make a template (akin to those for cut content and non-canon campaigns) soonish to signal it's official material which may be contradicted by in-game storylines. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 14:10, June 8, 2017 (UTC)
I think the point of that paragraph was to establish that only one of her can be created (like the other two commandos) while also hinting that there are clones of her. Of course, that was pre-release, so when you take away the context, it just confuses people. Ssskoopa (talk) 14:14, June 8, 2017 (UTC)
Would this do? http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 14:36, June 8, 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, and we could also use this template for the Apollo profile, which directly contradicts the Cryocopter profile. (It says that Angstrom Defense made Cryocopter, not FutureTech) Ssskoopa (talk) 16:56, June 8, 2017 (UTC)

Need your help

Hey Sheldon, I've got something that need your help with. My friend at the Generals 2 mod team is revamping G2's models, but he can't find any reference pics of the Railgun tank from behind. Can you help me find some high quality screenshots? (Concept arts would be even better, though that's probably asking too much) Ssskoopa (talk) 18:14, June 11, 2017 (UTC)

Sigh. Hate to break it to you, but I was never in the alpha (didn't have the hardware and was on XP at the time). What I can do is direct you to this developer's walkthrough of the game and Sybert's multiplayer footage, perhaps you can see what you need there. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 18:33, June 11, 2017 (UTC)

Several things I wish to discuss

1. Is there anything you can do about the mobile version of the warbox template? On a computer they look fine, but on a phone, they look like this:

Wordblob

2. Speaking of the warbox, I realized that the "casualties" section on the player's side doesn't seem to be all that useful (I honestly don't know what to write most of the time and just write "moderate" or "moderate to heavy"). Should we make it a policy to write "player determined" or "determinant" for all the casualties on the player's side? (There are exceptions of course, missions where you only get a singly hero unit like Tanya obviously have light to none casualties, since the hero's death is always non-canon, and there are circumstances beyond your control, like in A Grand Gesture, where all your guys get blown up by Liquid Tib no matter what).

3. Should we have a template that says "the title of this article is conjectural"? I noticed several major conflicts in the game have no official names, like Ascension Conflict and Second Nod Reunification War.

That's all, have a great day! Ssskoopa (talk) 16:20, June 13, 2017 (UTC)

1. Regarding mobile templates, I haven't looked into them yet. I agree they look poor, but I'll try to ask someone at the Community Central to help out soonish (currently busy with some real life stuff and maintaining the nearly-closed CNCNZ.com).
2. I agree on the casualties bit being redundant, I wonder if deleting that part entirely from the template will cause the remaining pages that have its value set to break in some way, though.
3. The "conjectural title" idea is good as far as I'm concerned! http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 14:59, June 14, 2017 (UTC)

Re: TWIII dates

Is there any official source that says TWIII ended in 2049? I watched the in-game cutscenes and couldn't find any dates listed, and the intel database doesn't have anything on that either. Please don't tell me this is even more fanon, like the dates of TWI... Ssskoopa (talk) 19:56, June 17, 2017 (UTC)

Plus, the game really didn't give me the feeling that the war lasted two freaking years... Ssskoopa (talk) 14:16, July 11, 2017 (UTC)

If the Sidebar article was fanboy galore, I'm not surprised by the rest. Feel free to cull everything that's not found in any official documents or the game itself. If we do find any proof for those (in some really off-chance), it's easy to restore it. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 15:58, July 11, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Organizing

Sorry for not replying sooner. Yeah, I think we should definitely concentrate our efforts, especially since it's basically just the two of us against about twenty billion horribly written articles. How about we focus on the Generals 1 units first? There seems to be a ton of fanfic and false contents in those. (Seriously, have you seen how much bullshit there were in the Hijacker page before I editted it?)

Ssskoopa (talk) 14:07, July 15, 2017 (UTC)

I'll focus on the USA units while you do the GLA ones, we can do China later. Is this alright?Ssskoopa (talk) 02:16, July 16, 2017 (UTC)

Sure, let's do that. I'm already fixing some of the USA units. Am I doing alright? Ssskoopa (talk) 10:48, July 16, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Timeline... again

I know this is the bajillionth time I've bothered you with this, but... Is there ANY mention of a specific year in any of the RA games? Currently, all the RA3 missions are written with the assumption that RA3 took place in 1986. I have no idea where that came from, since the year 1986 is never mentioned in any of the official materials, and it's even written on the game's Wikipedia page. (My theory that it has something to do with Paradox's background settings.)

Should we just get rid of all mentions of 1986 from RA3 related pages?

Ssskoopa (talk) 06:07, August 26, 2017 (UTC)

I'll go through all cutscenes just to be sure, but I think it can go as well. Don't feel bad about asking, mate :) http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 10:41, August 28, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Tanya

I recently came across the disambiguation page for Tanya, and noticed that it mentioned that "certain official Red Alert 3 documents referred to the third Tanya with the Adams 'surname'". Is there any truth to this? She's only ever referred to as Tanya everywhere I looked (official profile, manual, the game itself). Ssskoopa (talk) 09:11, September 13, 2017 (UTC)

This one's true. See here at 4:39. I have the Premier Edition myself, so I can confirm the authenticity. You can also ditch the 1986 year, though we'll basically lose the timeline's structure this way. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 16:38, September 13, 2017 (UTC)
Yeah... Far as I know, there is no specific year in the Red Alert timeline, period. The sole exception being Einstein's time travel and assasination by Cherdenko. Why they didn't bother giving us ANY information on years I have no idea. Ssskoopa (talk) 08:25, September 16, 2017 (UTC)
Not 'entirely' true. The RA2 Allied ending implies it's set in 1972. See the newspaper rolls closely. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 15:28, September 16, 2017 (UTC)

Actually, I do believe that this flag is better than the one we currently use for the Empire page. Considering that this is the version that shows up both in the campaign screen and in the cutscenes. (Unsigned comment from Ssskoopa at 19:18, October 2, 2017)

Alpha Construction Yard image for Tiberian Dawn

Hello, I have a question - I was looking at the image gallery for Construction Yard (Tiberian Dawn) and this image caught my eye. I have a strong interest in Tiberian Dawn's development history and was wondering if you could tell me where you found this and whether there are any other screenshots/images related to early alphas of Tiberian Dawn? Thanks in advance! Shedeen2109 (talk) 06:49, October 8, 2017 (UTC)

Got it here. CnC-Comm also has some images which were generously shared by anonymous ex-Westwood staff members, so you know that stuff's authentic. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 09:24, October 8, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Allied page

Sigh... It seems that whenever we have a page that covers a lot of content it inevitably turns into crap. I'm planning on fixing it, starting from the "Technology Level" section. My plan is to split it into RA1 era, RA2 era, and RA3 era. The problem is I don't really know a lot about RA1 Allies, so can you help me with this? I'll set up the framework later. Ssskoopa (talk) 10:59, October 14, 2017 (UTC)

Sure, though RA1 didn't have all too much of a backstory for the technologies if I'm not mistaken. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 15:59, October 16, 2017 (UTC)

That's just what I had in mind, thanks man! Say, how about we work together to revamp the rest of the page. Because, let's be honest here, it's a freaking mess, with obsolete terms like GWW and Psychic Dominator Disaster all over the place, and unnecessary Red Alert universe disclaimers, and fanwank, sigh.... Ssskoopa (talk) 04:26, October 23, 2017 (UTC)

I'll be focusing on the history section, apparently a lot of that is outright fanfic. Also, what do we do with the official fact sheets? Since we no almost nothing about, say, the Allies' economic power in the RA3 era, should we keep it exclusively RA1 or should we get rid of it entirely? Ssskoopa (talk) 10:04, October 24, 2017 (UTC)

RE: Titan Comparison Images

(Sorry for the late reply!)

Sorry for that, Sheldonist. I'll take them down and get the higher resolution pictures uploaded. Thank you for noticing!

Re: Robot tank

The robot tank page mentions that it's based on the terror drone, but I can't find evidence of that anywhere. Is that more fanfic bullshit? Should I just get rid of it?

Also, what do you say about the Allied fact sheet I mentioned? Should I get rid of everything beyond the RA1 era? Ssskoopa (talk) 14:30, October 29, 2017 (UTC)

I'd call fanfic bullshit too. As for the Allied fact sheet, I'm not sure if all that much in it is accurate or even useful, so whatever legitimate info within it should be reworked into other sections of the article, and the rest should be binned. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 14:54, October 29, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Epic units

I think the only units that were ever called "Epic units" were the super units from KW, but the Epic unit page and category were pretty vague in defining what is an epic unit. It even included the Shogun Executioner of all things. Should we just revamp the whole thing to only include the KW units? Also, can you find a KW dev interview or something where we can find the official definition of "Epic unit"? Ssskoopa (talk) 11:21, December 6, 2017 (UTC)

As far as I know, the devs wanted to have epic units as a gambit option that could turn the tide of battles where players were similarly matched. What they ended up being were expensive but powerful one-unit armies. I'll try to find an old dev podcast where this was mentioned. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 21:27, December 14, 2017 (UTC)

Battle Box image?

Hey Sheldon, have you noticed that all the images in battle boxes stopped showing up? Any idea what went wrong? Ssskoopa (talk) 03:04, March 23, 2018 (UTC)

No idea, since the template itself hasn't been touched in 8 years. Then again, Wiki/Fandom likes to make edits that break things for no reason... http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 19:43, March 23, 2018 (UTC)

So I made this template for unused redirects

Template:UnusedRedirects

The problem is there are just so many of those that the page can't even show them at once, do you know if there's anyway to mass delete them? Ssskoopa (talk) 16:10, April 8, 2018 (UTC)

Not to my knowledge, sadly. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 21:47, April 8, 2018 (UTC)

Some things I want to ask

Freedom Consortium and Asian Defense League. Are these two pages just fanfic? Because as far as I know, these two organizations were only mentioned once in the RA1 manual, and we know literally nothing else about them. I'm asking because if they are, we can simply delete the Mongolia page too, because that page's also plagued with fanfics (it was created by the unspeakable horror that wrote most of the Commander's Challenge pages *shudders*)

Also, on that note, should we restructure how we handle location articles? We currently not only have individual cities and countries, but also articles like Europe and even Eastern Europe, which inevitably turn into clusterfucks because of the separate universes and how much stuff goes on in them. Should we just get rid of those continent level articles for good? Ssskoopa (talk) 12:03, April 18, 2018 (UTC)

For anything that has no basis in canon, bin it freely. Same goes for regional-but-not-continental articles. As for Mongolia, it apparently appeared in the Commander's Challenge, so it should stay, but in a smaller variant. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 20:50, April 18, 2018 (UTC)
Uprising Challenge All Clear
Actually, I checked the Commander's Challenge map, and it turns out that Mongolia is actually one of the few countries that doesn't have a challenge. There is a challenge named Gosh Darn Mongolians! (South Park reference, haha), but it takes place in China.
Also, I don't think Commander's Challenge is a 100% geographically accurate anyway. No Match for the Guardian, for example, is a challenge that takes place on an island in the middle of the ocean... Yet its marker is in the middle of Africa.
Ssskoopa (talk) 00:01, April 19, 2018 (UTC)

And yet again...

Sigh... We should probably just make an entire page where I take suspicious looking pages and ask you "Is this fanfic bullshit?", so anyway, what do you think about this one here: GDI Emergency Aid Commission.

Ssskoopa's findings of fanfic bullshit it is :D
The article you linked to is so wrong that it mentions Adam Locke as GDI's Supreme Commander... http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 14:19, April 19, 2018 (UTC)
I had a look, and it turns out that the GDI Emergency Aid Commission is another one of those "literally only mentioned once in an Intel Database entry" kind of thing. So I think it can be safely removed. Ssskoopa (talk) 00:40, April 20, 2018 (UTC)
More fanfic bullshit found! And this time it's on one of the most important pages in this whole wiki. GDI's page mentions that Black Ops 9 went public after a failed attempt to kill Saddam. This appears to be an invention by Command & Conquer Encyclopedia, so can you help me clean up the history section? I've never played the early Tiberian games to be honest. (On a side note, FUCK the ones who wrote that glorified fanfic compilation, this wiki would be in much better state if it wasn't for them, they are the "genuises" behind the term "Great World War" and countless other fanfic crap in this wiki) Ssskoopa (talk) 10:38, May 4, 2018 (UTC)

About some RA3 units' build cost

I noticed some RA3 units' unit boxes said that their build costs and build times were changed, but didn't mention on which patch did that happen. The ones I found were attack dog and Vindicator, and I think there may be more. Is there anyway to find out? Ssskoopa (talk) 01:35, April 21, 2018 (UTC)

I noticed this too, but also couldn't find the source. With RA3, it's a bit odd, because there were not only patches (of which I've put most of the changelogs in here, but there was also the fact, as I understand, that the campaign missions had entirely independent data set, likely to prevent issues like the Croatia (GDI mission) from Tiberium Wars. You can get the RA3 Mod SDK and the singleplayer map sources (we're looking for overrides.xml in each of them) to see what differences there are. Get them both here. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 10:31, April 21, 2018 (UTC)

About RA3's engine

Do you know about any official info on what engine Red Alert 3 uses? This wiki says it's RNA while Wikipedia says it's SAGE 2.0. I can't find anything conclusive myself. Thanks!

Ssskoopa (talk) 09:59, April 23, 2018 (UTC)

RNA is a rewrite of SAGE. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 15:13, April 23, 2018 (UTC)

About article name

I found several page names for the same thing: 76th Mechanized Division, 76th Mechanised, 76th Mechanised Infantry Division. Currently, the first one is the main page, but the last one is the full name that's actually mentioned in the Intel Database. Should I rename it? Also, is it "mechanized" or "mechanised"? Ssskoopa (talk) 00:32, April 26, 2018 (UTC)

Oh, and on that note, a bunch of articles about APCs are named "Armored personnel carriers", should we just shorten the page names to "APC"? The same goes for the Infantry Fighting Vehicle. Ssskoopa (talk) 00:42, April 26, 2018 (UTC)

Prefer non-acronyms where possible. As for the 76th, not sure. Tagaziel and I tried to enforce UK English, but "mechanized" is more widespread... Use the full-est name in any case. http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 20:45, April 26, 2018 (UTC)
Well, "76th Mechanised Infantry Division" is how it's spelled in the game, so I guess that's it then. Also I understand using non-acronyms, but sometimes it simply gets bloody ridiculous. For example, Multigunner IFV's full page name used to be "Multigunner infantry fighting vehicle", my eyes hurt just from looking at it... Ssskoopa (talk) 01:02, April 27, 2018 (UTC)

Hey Sheldon

Guess what, I've finally worked that Skype thing out, we can chat on that now.

Also, in case you didn't get my first message, can you fix the GDI page's history section? I haven't played the early games but I'm pretty sur the part about Saddam was fanfic from Command & Conquer Encyclopedia.

Also, I've got exams coming up, so I'll be gone for about a month. Will try to get back to edittng after I'm done.

Ssskoopa (talk) 14:42, May 9, 2018 (UTC)

I'll have a look at GDI, but I'm very busy myself these days :/ http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 23:33, May 10, 2018 (UTC)

Hello there

Hey Sheldonist/PlokiteWolf. Long time no see. I am pretty busy with school and life these days.

Anyways after periods of hiatus from the C&C franchise and sporadic editing, I've decided to do some major revamp on the technical parts of the wiki, like categories and templates. I have overhauled the Flag template so that the inputs make more sense to use and I'm currently adding this template as an infoicon for faction links, like the Icon template on the Mental Omega Wiki. The Games template has been fixed, though parts of the code has been copied off from the Battlefield and Call of Duty wikis.

I have also been trying to organize the categories. I think we should rename the game-specific ones like 'Red Alert 2 Characters' to 'Red Alert 2 characters', and 'Tiberium Wars GDI Arsenal' to 'Tiberium Wars GDI arsenal' for the sake of convention. But judging by the massive amount of pages under these categories, I think the wiki would need a bot to conduct that.

I've also managed to get the IPA file for Red Alert Mobile. Though I have never played the game myself, I am able to get hold of the sprites and cameos, so at least there would be more content to those underdeveloped pages.

Well, that's all I have to say. Its good to be back for now. - Pvt. JFX141 (talk) 02:36, May 12, 2018 (UTC)

YES!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Can you extract the text files from the campaign missions too? There is currently next to no info on the details of the Empire campaign in that game. Ssskoopa (talk) 08:35, May 12, 2018 (UTC)
Yeah for Red Alert Mobile, apparently the devs store all the strings inside a excel spreadsheet and I did find the briefings and dialogues for the Empire campaign. I uploaded all the game's sprite and text data onto my drive here: [1]. The text data is located under IPA > texts > MasterTextFile.xls. - Pvt. JFX141 (talk) 14:45, May 12, 2018 (UTC)
You, sir, are my new hero. Ssskoopa (talk) 16:22, May 12, 2018 (UTC)
Hello Private, glad to see you back! Thank you for the link to RA Mobile, as well! http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 08:37, May 14, 2018 (UTC)

Re: Infobox

Hey Sheldon, as you probably know already, I've being revamping the background section of Red Alert 3 units by moving most of the lore to their own unit profile pages. To do this, I've being using these boxes

Designation Wiki editor
National Origin Somewhere
Mass-Produced at Wiki

(To be honest, I ripped off the code from the Paradox wiki XD)

It works well enough, but it leaves a huge blank space at the top right of the page. Do you know if there's anyway to move the features list to the right (like this) so it's closer to how it is on the RA3 website?

Box

Ssskoopa (talk) 12:54, June 28, 2018 (UTC)

My CSS knowledge is very limited, but you'd really have to split one section of the box to a separate column (e.g. features), but my two quick attempts to change your template ended up being quite horrible (so I reverted them). Remind me mid-next week to give you a hand, I'll have more time to allocate to this site then :) http://vignette2.wiki.nocookie.net/cnc/images/0/04/PW_Signature_Nod_Emblem.png Sheldonist (yell!) 07:40, June 29, 2018 (UTC)
