Nigeria, officially the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is a country located in West Africa and shares land borders with the Republic of Benin in the west, Chad and Cameroon in the east, and Niger in the north.
History[]
The British colonised Nigeria in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, setting up administrative structures and law while recognizing traditional chiefs. Nigeria became independent in 1960. Several years later, it had civil war as Biafra tried to establish independence. Military governments in times of crisis have alternated with democratically elected governments.

First Tiberium War[]
The following is based on the Nod campaign of Tiberian Dawn and might contradict canon. |
Though neutral at the start of Nod's conquest of Africa, Nigeria had hosted an airbase in Lagos where GDI had conducted A-10 airstrikes from. GDI's air power was subsequently hindered when Nod invaded Mauritania, installing anti-air defenses and destroying a GDI airbase near Tidjikdja.[1]
Following Nod's gains in West Africa, GDI had imported nuclear devices into Nigeria, along with Benin and the Ivory Coast, in order to influence local leaders there and ensure their loyalty. Should the Nod Commander attack Nigeria, the nuclear detonator from the GDI base near Abuja would be stolen.[2] Having dispelled the threat posed by the nukes, Nod was able to secure control over the whole country.
