The Ornithopter is a lightly armored aircraft capable of firing rockets in battle. The Ornithopter utilizes the unusual M-Flex technology which creates the distinctive "flapping" motion of the wings.
Game unit[]
The Ornithopter is the fastest aircraft in Dune II, though it is not directly controllable. It launches attrition attacks against the enemy base, but can be fired upon by enemy rocket turrets. When no enemies are around, the unit will fly around and reveal large circular areas in the shroud, somewhat like the Red Alert Spy plane, until it finds enemies to attack.
