RAD Video Tools is a set of video encoding tools by Epic Game Tools LLC (formerly RAD Game Tools). These include a player and converters to and from the Bink and Smack video formats, as well as tools to create executable files that run the video clips.
In the Command & Conquer games, the Bink video format version 1.0 was used in Red Alert 2, Yuri's Revenge, Generals and Zero Hour. Emperor: Battle for Dune employs Bink 2.
The developer, RAD Game Tools (or simply RAD), has been in business since 1980s. In 2021, the company became an Epic Games subsidiary and changed its name, but as of July 2024, has not changed its old logo to reflect the change.
