Protecting Kane's servants!
- Reckoner

The Reckoner is a Nod armoured personnel carrier in Kane's Wrath.

Background[]

Unlike its GDI counterpart, the Guardian APC, the Reckoner is unarmed and does not have firing ports. However, it has a larger crew capacity, being able to carry two squads of infantry. The Reckoner can be deployed into a stationary bunker to provide extra protection and will do so automatically if it sustains too much damage. In this state, not only can the infantry inside fire out, but it also gains enough room for three squads of infantry.

Game Unit[]

The Reckoner is Nod's only ground APC unit, and can be roughly equated to GDI's Guardian APC/Steel Talons' Mobile Repair Transport. However, there are a few differences worth noting - the Reckoner does not allow infantry to fire from within by default, but also holds two infantry squads instead of one. When destroyed for the first time or when ordered to do so, it deploys into an immobile bunker and cannot be packed back up. In this state it retains its original capabilities when mobile, but gains some hit points, damage resistance, a third slot for infantry squads and its passengers can fire from within (despite possessing a lengthy animation, it enters this state as soon as it transforms, meaning its passengers can start attacking immediately). The troops inside are also immune to garrison-clearing weapons, but if the Reckoner is destroyed in this state, its occupants will not survive its destruction.

Like the Foxholes constructed by GDI's rifleman squads, even when in their bunker form they cannot be repaired manually and can only regain hit points by being repaired by ground-based repair drones - those from War Factories, Battle Bases, MRTs, or the Reconstruction Drones support power will suffice.

The Marked of Kane especially heavily utilized this unit, as it afforded their already intimidating infantry even further protection from damage while still allowing them to incinerate their enemies.

Reckoners, along with the Scorpion Tank, could be upgraded with Dozer Blades. These increased the Reckoner's armor, made them able to traverse mines without sustaining damage, and gave them the ability to crush heavy infantry (such as Zone Troopers) - making it easier for the Reckoner to get into position and unleash the power of the infantry within.

The Reckoner cannot be airlifted by a Carryall.
