The Republic of Korea (Taehan Minguk in Korean), commonly known as South Korea, is a democratic nation in East Asia. During the Third World War and the Psychic Dominator Disaster, they were a key member of the Allies.
History[]
On the map that appears before each level in Red Alert 2, the Korean peninsula is shown as being divided into North and South Korea, just like in real life. For details, see site stances on specific cases.
Third World War (first iteration)[]

The Republic of Korea remained neutral during the early months of the Third World War. However, when a Korean reporter learned that the Soviets used psychic technology to mind control key members of the Korean leadership, the Republic of Korea declared war on the Soviet Union and would go on to fight the Soviets in multiple countries in South East Asia.[2]
The Korean's first major engagement was off the coast of Japan in an attempt to establish naval supremacy in the region; the attack completely caught the Soviets off guard in the area and resulted in a victory that destroyed the Soviet forces in that region. The next engagement was an intervention into Vietnam with two divisions being sent there to deter Soviet Aggression in the region. Despite being outnumbered heavily against the Soviets, the Koreans prevailed and pushed back the Soviets in the area.[2]
Three weeks into the war a Soviet division, hidden by powerful psychic technology and thus thwarting Korean intelligence, invaded Korea. Using what remaining forces in the country the Koreans had, fought off the Soviets and with most of the Soviet forces in the Far-East destroyed or neutralized as a threat; launched a counter-offensive into Harbin and Siberia. With the war in America going poorly for the Soviets alongside the European Allies attacking Russia herself, a unique opportunity was given to the Koreans to cripple the Soviets by attacking their oil fields in Eastern Siberia. The Koreans marched onwards, despite massive losses and bitter cold, and captured or destroyed the oil fields in Eastern Siberia, crippling the USSR.[2]

When the Soviet Union invaded the United States in 1972, South Korea assisted the Allies by attacking Russia's homeland itself, by attacking the Soviets' primary Pacific port of Vladivostok. This attack on Russia's eastern territories by the Koreans was eventually forced back into the sea by the Soviets,[3] however it succeeded in diverting a substantial number of Soviet troops from other strategic fronts in the war, and thus aided in thinning the Soviet's ranks.
Later in the war, the Korean navy arrives to help assist the American Fleet at Pearl Harbor from the Soviet invasion arriving fifteen minutes after the Soviets had already established a base. However, despite both the Americans and Koreans navy best efforts, Pearl Harbor was destroyed by the Soviets.[4]
Third World War (second iteration)[]
In gratitude of the Allies for freeing the Pacific of Yuri's Boomer fleet, Korean Black Eagles assisted the attack on Yuri's cloning facilities in Sydney, Australia.[5]
Third World War (third iteration)[]
No further information about Republic of Korea is given after Anatoly Cherdenko's time travel.
Gameplay[]

The Black Eagles are the most dangerous fighter pilots in the world. Korean forces are always well protected by these deadly air men and their lethal fighter-bombers. |

In Red Alert 2, simply named Korea in the drop-down list, South Korea is one of the 5 playable Allied countries. It exclusively has access to the Black Eagle.
Cut content[]
South Korea is internally named Asian Alliance in the rules.ini. Further, the graphical image of the country's flag uses the prefix "jap", hinting that Korea may had originally been intended as Japan, or an alliance of Asian countries.
Judging from commented out lines in the same file, Korea was meant to have veteran GIs and 20% cheaper infantry units. It was also supposed to have exclusive access to the Howitzer, which ended up being cut but still present in the game's files.

Fate outside of the Red Alert universe[]
Tiberium universe[]
As Tiberium spreads around the world, Korea was relatively unscathed. During the First Tiberium War, South Korea was shown as a GDI member state on the map, while North Korea was shown to be affiliated with the Brotherhood of Nod. Decades later, the Korean Peninsula was classified as a Blue Zone, meaning its citizens enjoyed some of the highest standards of living in the world under the protection of GDI. Like other Blue Zones, it was presumably devastated by the Scrin Invasion of Earth.
Generals universe[]
Alexis Alexander was a logistics staffer during the Second Korean War.[1]
The following is based on the cancelled game Generals 2 and has not been confirmed by canon sources. |
At some point before the Second GLA War, the Korean Peninsula was unified and had formed the Asia-Pacific Alliance with China.
