Rocket Soldiers are specialized heavy infantry units available to GDI and Nod in Tiberian Dawn.


Soldiers who undergo specialized training in the use of guided missiles serve as the primary line of defense against enemy vehicles and aircraft, thanks to the light TOW munitions they use.

Game unit

Rocket Soldiers are raised at Barracks and Hands of Nod. While Minigunners are effective against infantry and light vehicles, Rocket Soldiers are intended for use against enemy armor, aircraft, and buildings, with Minigunners providing a screen against enemy infantry.

Rocket Soldiers are effective against all hard targets and can attack them from a distance. However, they are slow and just as squishy as other infantry types. As a result, they should never be left without an escort as the enemy can intercept them with light infantry or tanks, which can simply run them over.

Finally, they are also a cheap alternative to anti-aircraft emplacements. A group of two can take out an attacking unit and is cheaper than a SAM site if playing Nod.

Behind the scenes

  • The cameo depicts rocket infantry armed with M72 LAW, a single-shot, unguided anti-tank weapon.
  • The pop-up icon on the sidebar of this unit, when displayed, calls the unit "Bazooka".
  • In all instances, calling the unit a rocket soldier is incorrect; guided munitions are called missiles.
