Romania (officially the Republic of Romania) is a country in Southeastern Europe. It is bordered by Ukraine, Moldova, Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary. In the Soviet campaign of Yuri's Revenge, it was a battleground for the Allied/Soviet alliance to destroy Yuri's last base at Transylvania. During the events of The Uprising, the Soviet Underground raided a FutureTech installation there.
History[]
The United Principalities emerged when the territories of Moldavia and Wallachia were united under Prince Alexander Ioan Cuza in 1859. In 1866 Prince Karl of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen was called to the throne as the Ruling Prince of the Romanian Principate and in 1881 he was finally crowned as King Carol I the first monarch of the Kingdom of Romania. Independence from the Ottoman Empire was declared on 9 May 1877, and was internationally recognized the following year. At the end of World War I, Transylvania, Bukovina and Bessarabia united with the Kingdom of Romania.

First Tiberium War[]
Should Solomon choose to attack Romania following the GDI offensive in Hungary, he would take out the Nod base near Arad. GDI forces are granted the new Orca aircraft thanks to reestablished UN funding, which proved useful in taking out the Nod turret defenses leading to the base.[1]
Red Alert universe[]
Third World War (first iteration)[]
The following is based on the cooperative missions of Red Alert 2 and might contradict canon. |
Romania was the site of major battles in the European Allies' campaign to assault Soviet strongholds in Eastern Europe, with a combined French and German force striking the first blow. However, the initial Allied successes were soon met with a fierce Soviet counteroffensive that threatened to encircle the expeditionary force, compelling it to make a fighting retreat back to friendly territory.
The subsequent combat across Eastern Europe dragged on for weeks and then months, and the weary Allies decided to break the stalemate by launching an operation to take control of vital Romanian harbors on the Black Sea and make preparations for a major amphibious landing on the Russian coastline. The distraction provided by this landing allowed the Europeans to catch the Soviet Army by surprise with an armored attack into Poland, paving the way for an eventual assault on the main Soviet headquarters in Ukraine.
Third World War (second iteration)[]
The following is based on the Soviet campaign of Yuri's Revenge and might contradict canon. |
Yuri's forces are on the verge of defeat. Soviet intelligence and Premier Romanov had found Yuri hiding in his ancestral castle in Transylvania. The Soviet Commander in the operation was contacted by Zofia that an Allied/Soviet base had been mind-controlled on the western and eastern sides of the area. Yuri had a huge force and the last base on Earth, with two Psychic Beacons and he wants to control the northern hemisphere. The Soviet veteran raced up and destroyed the Psychic Beacons to free the Allied/Soviet base on both sides of the map, before he took Yuri's base and destroyed the castle.
Soviet forces had won, but Yuri did not accept defeat, and decided to travel back in time using a Time Machine. However, Zofia overcharged the machine, sending Yuri back to 65 million years ago, and the psychic mad man was killed by a T-Rex.
The Uprising[]
After the Third World War (III) ended with the defeat of the Soviet Union, a Soviet Commander and his aide, Dasha, had to rescue some scientists in the Romanian area to drive out the Allied occupational forces from their motherland. Unbeknownst to them, they were dealing with a threat far more dangerous than the Allies.
Trivia[]
- In what appears to be a major oversight, the borders of Romania are outlined in Retaliation even though the game was referring to Ukraine.
