Strategy[]
Alien Dropship[]
The primary use of this support power is to build a Base and establish a presence in new areas, as the Scrin is unable to use Ports like the other factions, and their Wormhole support power has a long cooldown between uses.
After building a base, the remaining strike force can either be decommissioned or used as a small diversion to incoming enemy Strike Forces that will attack the newly built Base.
Building Bases this way is also cheaper than building a Strike Force consisting of only a Drone Ship (4000 credits for the Strike Force compared to 1000 credits).
Depending on the player's skill and the AI difficulty, one may also use this support power to destroy undefended Tier 1 Bases with a Tier 1 rush on Real-Time.
In dire circumstances, this support power can also be used to stall a powerful enemy Strike Force heading to an important Scrin Base. It is recommended to use Real-Time in this situation, to give the opportunity to weaken the enemy Strike Force as much as possible with mass Tier 1 units.
Against Scrin AI, they will often use this support power to build a Base in unoccupied areas, which can be annoying at times if the player is aiming for a military victory.
Any Strike Force with decent firepower is able to deal with this Scrin Strike Force easily, especially when Auto-Resolve is used.
Growth Accelerator[]
A Growth Accelerator will affect the global battlefield every turn through the following:
+50 Tiberium Level (to compare, a Scrin Base reduces Tiberium Level by -100)
-5 Population Level
Along with Ichor Injection, this support power allows the Scrin to sustain their income through Tiberium, as cities are only a limited source of income for the Scrin since they reduce their population until it reaches zero, where the city is no longer of use.
Use this support power in conjunction with Ichor Injection to ensure the Tiberium never runs out, especially if the area around a Scrin Tier 3 base is nearly out of Tiberium.
Growth Accelerators built this way cannot be destroyed by any means. Therefore, it may be wise to rebuild in areas where a Growth Accelerator is deployed.
This also applies to other factions.
Phase Field[]
While the Phase Field protects against support powers, it does not protect affected entities from Strike Force engagements.
Offensively, Phase Field can stall an enemy Strike Force to allow friendly Strike Forces chasing the enemy Strike Force to catch up.
Defensively, Phase Field can be used to stall an enemy Strike Force approaching an important Scrin Base. As long the enemy does not interrupt with their support powers, this allows enough time to either upgrade base defenses, build a Strike Force from the Base itself or Airlift a friendly Strike Force to the Scrin Base.
Be careful not to deploy Phase Field too close to the Scrin Base, as this also interrupts any action given to them.
Against Scrin AI, they will often use this support power against an enemy Strike Force if it is within a Scrin Base's Area of Influence.
Wormhole Generator[]
This support power allows the Scrin to launch an assault anywhere in the world, even in areas where the Scrin have no presence in.
The current Wormholes will last until the support power is ready to be used again. As Wormhole entrances can be deployed near a Scrin Base, the player can use this time to build, upgrade and/or repair their Strike Forces before using the Wormhole.
If the Strike Force/s succeeds in destroying their targets, they can be ordered to use the Wormhole again to retreat and resupply.
Unlike the real-time support power, only Scrin Strike Forces are able to use the Wormhole, so there is no need to worry on retaliation.
While it is possible to place Wormholes directly on top of an enemy Base, any transported Scrin Strike Forces can still be intercepted by enemy support powers, so it is recommended to use support powers to weaken the enemy Base first to compensate for any losses taken from enemy support powers.
Against Scrin AI, they will often deploy the Wormhole entrance in their own Tier Base and the exit in an enemy Tier 3 Base (usually one with a superweapon). After this, they will build a powerful Strike Force that will use the Wormhole to attack the enemy Base. Sometimes they will use Rift to weaken the enemy base before the attack.
As these actions take a predictable long time, the player can use this time to weaken the newly constructed Scrin Strike Force with an Orca/Vertigo Strike and/or build friendly Strike Forces to assist in the defense.
Create Ion SuperStorm[]
An Ion Superstorm will destroy 25% of an enemy Base or Strike Force.
Due to the difficult use (see Note above) and expensive cost of this support power, it is not recommended to use this support power against enemy Strike Forces.
Therefore, this support power is only best used against enemy Bases, as they are a stationary target.
Against Scrin AI, they will often use this support power directly in the center of an enemy Base (usually Tier 3 with a superweapon).
Orbital Bombardment[]
An Orbital Bombardment will destroy 20% of an enemy Base or Strike Force. In addition, it will reduce the Population of affected cities by 25%.
As the support power with the largest area of effect among offensive support powers (even larger than superweapons), this support power can damage multiple enemy Bases and Strike Forces at once.
Despite the expensive cost, the enemy will be forced to spend more credits if at least 2 Bases are affected (3000 credits for the support power compared to 10000 credits to repair both Bases minimum).
Against Scrin AI, they will often use this support power directly in the center of an enemy Base (usually Tier 3 with a superweapon); as a result, the AI does not make full use of the large area of effect unless there are nearby enemy Bases and Strike Forces.
Ichor Injection[]
Ichor Injection will increase the Tiberium Level of the affected area by 250 (to compare, a Scrin Base decreases the Tiberium Level by 100 every turn).
Along with Growth Accelerator, this support power allows the Scrin to sustain their income through Tiberium, as cities are only a limited source of income for the Scrin since they reduce their population until it reaches zero, where the city is no longer of use.
Use this support power in conjunction with Growth Accelerator to ensure the Tiberium never runs out, especially if the area around a Scrin Tier 3 base is nearly out of Tiberium.
Spread Alien Plague[]
Spread Alien Plague will reduce the Population Level of all affected Cities by 250; a total of 25% if a City is fully populated.
Due to the way it is coded, the effect will not be immediately visible until the next turn.
As one of the only means for the Scrin to halt Nod's alternate victory condition, it is best used against multiple cities with high unrest.
As human Bases constantly increase population of nearby cities, it is recommended to only use this support power when the nearby enemy Base is destroyed.
Eradicate Population[]
Eradicate Population will reduce a single City's Population Level by 500; a total of 50% if the City is fully populated.
As one of the only means for the Scrin to halt Nod's alternate victory condition, it is best used against cities with high unrest but low population.
Its expensive cost means that the best targets are isolated cities without a nearby enemy Base.
Rift[]
Rift will destroy a certain percentage of a Base or Strike Force:
50% vs. Tier 3 Bases and Heavy Strike Forces
75% vs. Tier 2 Bases, Medium and Ultra Heavy Strike Forces
100% vs. Tier 1 Bases and Light Strike Forces
It is recommended to use this against a heavily fortified enemy Tier 3 Base just before a friendly Strike Force attacks it. That way, the friendly Strike Force will have an easier time to finish the job.
Be wary of enemy support powers that can stall the friendly Strike Force, allowing the enemy to repair the Base, wasting the Rift.
For maximum efficiency, target Rift between nearby Bases or Strike Forces so all enemy entities take heavy damage.
Contrary to in-game logic, Rift, along with other superweapons, is able to completely destroy a Tier 1 Base. This can help prevent future enemy expansions, especially if the newly constructed Base is out of the Scrin's reach.
2-3 superweapon strikes can destroy a Tier 3 Base. If another enemy has used a superweapon against a Tier 3 Base with a dangerous Strategic Structure (such as a superweapon), it may be wise to also use Rift on the same Tier 3 Base to ensure its destruction if the enemy has not repaired it already.
As with other superweapons, the Scrin AI often uses this support power directly in the center of an enemy Base (usually Tier 3 with a superweapon). This also includes cloaked Nod Bases.
The AI is more likely to use Rift on the Base where the Scrin has placed a Wormhole on, so the Strike Force transported through the Wormhole can easily finish off the Base.
Trivia[]
Though the Alien Dropship's icon shows a shock trooper, the actual strike force does not have them.
