Artillery cannon (Blast)
Nod's latest artillery unit was descended from the Specter that first saw service in the Third Tiberium War and the events that preceded it. Like the first Specter, the new Specter is fully stealthed while not firing its main weapon. Unlike its predecessor, however, it does not need to deploy before firing.
The Specter is the last unit unlocked by a Nod Offense Class commander, at level 20. It can only be constructed once the commander has unlocked Tier 3 on the battlefield.
The Specter is equipped with a short-barreled cannon/mortar firing jet-propelled shells similar to those used by the GDI Juggernaut. The shells follow a high, arcing trajectory before exploding, dealing blast damage, when they hit their targets and are particularly effective against reinforced structures and clusters of light vehicles and infantry. The nature of the Specter's weapon means that it has no means to defend itself against enemy aircraft at all.
The shells may be upgraded to carry a Tiberium Catalyst inside, which creates a cloud of Tiberium gas that inflicts Tiberium corrosion on enemy units around the blast area, slowly damaging them and reducing their armour. There's a random chance that when firing, the shells change to a small tipped artilery shells.
Specters have medium armour that is resistant towards bullets but is vulnerable to tank cannons. Their true protection lies in their stealth ability which, when combined with their excellent mobility, makes them very elusive targets.
The Specter's closest GDI equivalent is the Juggernaut, while its opposing GDI Offense analogue is the Mastodon, which is much bigger, more heavily armoured and strictly more powerful, but much slower and less flexible.
An achievement can be earned if the player uses its Tiberium Catalyst to damage several units with a single use of it.
