LANDCOM 16 HQS.
INTERCEPTION OF SOVIET COMMUNIQUE INDICATES THEIR IRON CURTAIN RESEARCH WAS SET BACK BY ESPIONAGE. EXCELLENT WORK, COMMANDER!
COMMUNIQUE WAS TRACED BACK TO SECRET SOVIET BASE IN BORNHOLM. INVESTIGATE POSSIBLE CONNECTION WITH IRON CURTAIN RESEARCH. CAPTURE RADAR CENTER AND DESTROY SUB PRODUCTION CAPABILITY.
CONFIRMATION CODE 1138.
A Soviet communique was traced back to a secret base on Bornholm island, Denmark. As a result, a small Allied force is sent there to disrupt submarine production capability by destroying all four Sub Pens. In addition, a lightly guarded radar dome close to where the Allied base would be built has to be captured, which according to the top secret message from headquarters, was to investigate possible connection with Iron Curtain research. The destruction of the main Soviet base is optional.
With a small force and very limited credits starting out, players will be hard pressed to build a quick, sustainable force needed to win the mission early on. However your starting location contains plenty of ore so it would be best to get at least two Ore Refineries as quick as possible. It is noted that you need to get defences built as they will constantly hit your base frequently. Be aware of trying to destroy their Ore Trucks as they will send everything they have at you and you won't have enough to defeat that rush. As you do not have to destroy the main base to complete the mission, establish a fleet of destroyers to destroy the sub pens while capturing the radar center, which is located directly south of your starting position. Watch out for coastal Tesla coils as they can do significant damage to your fleet.
- The Soviets can train Medium tanks in this mission. This is probably an oversight.
- While the cutscenes feature a Cruiser targeting and shelling the secret Soviet base, the unit is not available in this mission.
