The Technology Center is a campaign-only building in the original Command & Conquer.

Game structure[]

The Technology Center has no inherent gameplay function. However, Technology Centers can be captured and used to build further structures adjacent to them.

The building does have some special properties in specific campaign missions. In the mission Doctor Wong, the building will spawn the Dr. Chan unit when destroyed. In the mission "Ezekiel's Wheel", capturing a Tech Center unlocks the Stealth tank construction option for the player.

Due to the fact the remastered game is lacking a system to override object names for specific missions, it always shows the building's name as "Prison" to accommodate its role in Nod mission 3.

Appearances[]

In the GDI campaign, the Technology Center appears in the mission "Doctor Mobius".

In the Nod campaign, several Tech Centers appear. In "Friends of the Brotherhood", it is called "Prison", and is the primary objective to capture. In "Ezekiel's Wheel", capturing one unlocks the Stealth tank, the titular unit, for the player. In the mission "Doctor Wong", the titular doctor is hiding inside the building (or near it, in the original non-remastered game).

In The Covert Operations, it appears in "Ground Zero" as "conference center" (though without explicit name change). The building also features in "Cloak and Dagger" and in the final Funpark mission, without real relation to the mission objectives.

The model of the Technology Center is reused for the structure of the same name in Red Alert. Its design was also reused for structures in the Evolution of Evil and All Brains, No Brawn levels in Renegade.
