The Grip of the Black Hand is the seventh mission in Renegade. Havoc has to infiltrate a chateau controlled by the Black Hand, and rescue the scientists held there.[1]
Plot[]
After securing the Cathedral, Parker infiltrates the chateau relatively unnoticed. Ceiling cameras and elite soldiers quickly locate him, but they are unable to take him down. After gaining access to the mainframe, as well as freeing civilians along the way, he gains access to the chateau's lower levels and frees a GDI prisoner.
Havoc finds Ignatio Mobius, his daughter Sydney, and Elena Petrova working in an underground lab. Havoc is then confronted by Sakura, but he overpowers her and holds her at gunpoint as Raveshaw and Mendoza arrive. Disappointed at Sakura's incompetence at taking out Havoc, Raveshaw orders Mendoza to execute both. Mendoza torches the entire room with his flamethrower, igniting its volatile contents that causes the building to become structurally unstable and start collapsing. In the chaos, Sakura escapes and Havoc manages to save Sydney, but Doctor Mobius and Petrova are taken away.

Havoc and Sydney escape to the surface, fighting Black Hand soldiers along the way. They miss the Nod transport helicopter that has taken off with Doctor Mobius and Petrova. Mendoza challenges Havoc, who ultimately kills him, ending their private feud. Parker and Sydney escape the fortress in a cargo truck.

| Rescue Resistance Located in the courtyard is a holding pen for captured village resistance members. Your quick efforts have released them from their imprisonment. | |
| Infiltrate Secret Cache In a secret compartment hidden in the second floor library you discovered a significant collection of personal items belonging to Raveshaw. | |
| Rescue Prisoner A GDI prisoner was held captive underneath the Chateau. Setting him free has allowed him to assist in fighting Nod forces. | |

Tips[]
- Tertiary objective 1 is achieved by finding a resistance fighter in one of the sheds in the courtyard with the Raveshaw statue and releasing her. The objective registers when she runs away. However, sometimes she may get stuck, in which case she will keep thanking you and spawning health power-ups each time you try to make her go.
- To complete tertiary objective 2, go to the second floor of the Raveshaw chateau and find a library. Search the bookcases there and, when a telltale bracket appears, press the Use key.
- Tertiary objective 3 is rather obvious. When you find a GDI soldier in the underground cells, talk to him.
