Introduction[]

Bingham: That was bang on brilliant, commander! Excellent work! And I have to say, the Soviets are proving to be a valuable ally.

Eva: Sir, Premier Cherdenko is on the line. He says it's urgent.

Cherdenko enters the transmission, furious.

Cherdenko: We won't stand for this treachery, Bingham! Do you hear me? My advisers warned me against trusting you "Allies".

Bingham: I'm sorry? Treachery? What the hell is going on? Eva?

Eva: Sir, apparently one of our satellite relay systems is targeted directly at Moscow. Its source is an American command post I didn't even know existed. It's at the site of the Mount Rushmore monument in South Dakota.

Bingham: What? Oh! Ackerman... Get the President on the line.

Ackerman enters the transmission.

Bingham: What's happening at this Mount Rushmore command center, Mr. President?

Ackerman: Those reds are playing you for a fool, my friend. And as long as I'm the President of these United States, I can't allow them to lead this dance. Bingham, you can thank me later when this is all over.

Bingham: When what is all over? Ackerman!

Ackerman cuts out.

Bingham: Oh, God. He's clearly out of his tree! You need to stop him Commander, before he undermines our alliance with the Russians!

Briefing[]

Eva: President Ackerman is en route to Mount Rushmore, where he apparently has a personal military base. It seems to be armed with some kind of superweapon which is poised to fire at Moscow! We have no idea what you're going to be up against, but this we do know: If the President levels Moscow, Russia will retaliate.

Mission summary[]

Intelligence: The President Ackerman has targeted the Soviet Union with some sort of weapon located within a firing base at the foot of Mount Rushmore. Allied command requires you to stop him. Your objective is this:

  • Destroy the Radio Tower before President Ackerman can transmit the launch codes.
  • Expect to face forces loyal to the American President on this mission.

We do not know what else President Ackerman has in store in this region and will update you as we learn more. Good luck.

President Howard T. Ackerman - This staunch anti-communist and pro-capitalist ideologue won the American election by a landslide. He's very supportive of the Allied coalition effort, at least when it comes to fighting back against the Soviet Union. Born and raised on a farm in Idaho, Ackerman energized his nation with grass-roots, roll-up-his-sleeves style.

Mission script[]

Introduction[]

Eva: It looks like the President has gone rogue on us. This is just so hard to believe. Nevertheless, we have a job to do, commander. Take out the communications tower before he transmits an order to fire!

Primary Objective 1: Destroy the Com Tower[]

Warren: Good to see you again, sir. Not sure what to make of this situation, but I'm here to follow orders, and my orders are to support you. I'm ready when you are!

Intelligence: The Power Plant supplying the base defenses is located to the northwest. Take it out to bring those guns offline. [Prompts Bonus Objective 1: Destroy the Power Plant.]

[When approaching the base]

Intelligence: Those are enemy Attack Dogs. Your Engineers and Spies should avoid them.

Warren: My Spies can temporarily disable that Power Plant.

[Upon completing Bonus Objective 1]

Intelligence: Power to the Base Defenses has been cut. [Prompts Bonus Objective 2: Capture the Boot Camp]

Warren: I'll try to take that Barracks.

[Upon completing Primary Objective]

Intelligence: With the Radio Tower destroyed, Ackerman cannot transmit the launch code.

Intermission cutscene[]

Ackerman: None of you have the guts for to do what needs to be done, so I'm gonna wipe those Soviets off this earth myself! And you can't stop me! Should my heart stop beating, the weapon fires.

[Scene changes to Mount Rushmore where Roosevelt's bust opens to reveal the Intercontinental Laser.]

Eva: Well, he's done it. He's gone stark-raving mad! You have to stop him, Commander, you have to prevent that weapon from firing! For if you don't, the Soviets will surely retaliate. I know it seems unfair to ask this of you, but the fate of the free world is now in your hands.

Primary Objective 2: Destroy the Rushmore Firebase[]

Cherdenko: If that weapon fires, I have no choice but to launch every weapon I have against the United States! Do I make myself clear?

Intelligence: The Intercontinental Laser inside of Mount Rushmore is still capable of firing, but Ackerman is going to need to get inside the Firebase to trigger it. You have however long it takes the President to reach the Firebase to prevent the attack.

Warren: I'm going to set up at that abandoned base over there.

[When Ackerman arrives at the Jefferson Head Control Center]

Intelligence: Massive power surges have been detected beneath Mount Rushmore.

Eva: The weapons from the monument are being powered by three locations. Each one that you capture will disable one of three heads. You'd better hurry. The President is getting close to firing the weapon!

Warren: This is unbelievable! I knew he was always a little wound up, but I didn't see this coming. Well, let's get moving. We've got to stop our crazy president.

Spy: Mmm, something's fishy. How could that crazy old bat Ackerman have set this all up right under our noses?

Intelligence: You have been authorized to construct Spectrum Towers. They are very effective anti-vehicle defenses.

Intelligence: The President is enroute to the firing base. It must be destroyed before he arrives.

[When Ackerman arrives at the Lincoln Head Control Center]

Intelligence: Abraham Lincoln's weapon systems are now online.

Intelligence: You now have access to construct Mirage Tanks. Our Mirage Tank assault forces have been stationed here all along. They are now under your control.

[When Ackerman arrives at the Washington Head Control Center]

Intelligence: Another presidential head capable of firing lasers has come online. George Washington's weapon systems are now online.

Engineer: Lasers? From the eyes?!

[When Ackerman is close to the Firebase; he reaches the cliff directly behind his base's Power Plants]

Ackerman: I'm almost there, Commander. Just a little more time.

Warren: Man, to think I even voted for this nutjob...

[When Ackerman is close to the Firebase; he reaches the cliff behind the area that seperates the two rightmost pairs of ore mines.] Warren: The President is getting close. We need to stop him.

[When Ackerman is at the bridge leading to his base where the Firebase is at.]

Intelligence: The President is getting close to the Firebase.

[When Ackerman's base is attacked]

Ackerman: Stop attacking at once! That's an order!

Bonus Objective 3: Capture the Jefferson Head Control Center[]

Intelligence: Rushmore Control Center captured. One of the lasers is powering down.

Primary Objective 3: Eliminate the President of the United States[]

[If the player does not destroy the President's Limo before the President's Chopper meets with the Limo]

Intelligence: Ackerman has boarded a helicopter. It must be destroyed.

After completing all objectives[]

Tanya: We did it, Commander. It's a shame it had to happen this way but ... we did what we had to do.

Mission failure[]

[If the player destroys the President's Limo before destroying the Rushmore Firebase]

Intelligence: Roosevelt's weapon systems are now online.

[If the player does not destroy the Rushmore Firebase before the President arrives]

Ackerman: You're too late, Commander. Thank you for letting freedom reign...

Intelligence: Ackerman's at the Firebase. Launch of Intercontinental Laser imminent...Mission Failed.

[If the player does not destroy the President's Chopper before it leaves the map]

Intelligence: President Ackerman has escaped....Mission Failed.
