Parker, Lillian, and Kane enter the Scrin Tower.
Lillian: Don't do it. I love you but... I can't do this. [Runs off]
Kane: Commander! Leave her... I'll find her. You, get to the portal.
Parker locates the portal. He begins its activation sequence.
[Scrin Portal Activation Status]
[// TCN Aligned and Ready]
[// All Hubs Synced]
[// Optical Implant in Activation Range]
[// Activate Scrin Portal]
The portal is activated. Colonel James confronts Parker from behind, holding him at gunpoint.
James: Kane! How do I stop this thing?! Answer me, you son of a bitch!
Parker is shot and collapses. As James is about to deliver the coup de grace, she is grabbed by the neck by the real Kane.
James: HOW!!!...
Kane: He was not yours to take.
[SHUTDOWN SEQUENCE INITIATED]
Parker passes out as his implant shuts down in failure.
[REBOOT]
Parker reawakens to see Lillian crying by his side.
Lillian: Stay with me, Ok. You're going to be okay. Please don't leave me. Please. [To Kane] You said he would be fine!
Kane: I thought he would be. But you're too fragile. You're all so fragile.
Kane enters the portal and vanishes, finally achieving his goal of Ascension.
[VITAL SIGNS FAILING]
[SYSTEM FAILURE IMMINENT]
[SHUTDOWN SEQUENCE INITIATED]
Lillian: Okay... oh no... Please...
Lillian continues to sob as the implant shuts down and Parker dies of his wound.
