This page includes a transcript of Core of the Problem, the ninth and final GDI mission of Tiberian Sun - Firestorm.[1]

Introduction[]

EVA: Nod confirms that CABAL's harvesting facilities are destroyed. The implanted virus has had significant impact on all cyborg production stations. Secondary teams are currently at work dismantling them.

Cortez: Right... It's showtime, Commander.

EVA: Your main objective is the destruction of CABAL's Core.

Cortez: We have to outflank CABAL. A Nod commando squad will draw a fire for GDI on this attack, Commander. Timing is everything. Get in there and smash the Core. We don't have any other option.

Briefing[]

We've tracked down CABAL and are ready to engage his forces on all fronts. This is an all-out assault. Nod forces have reluctantly agreed to a temporary cease-fire and are launching their own simultaneous offensive against CABAL. Destruction of the core is essential to our victory.

END TRANSMISSION.

  • First Objective: Build a base and repel initial attacks.
  • Second Objective: Capture the 3 control stations to shut down the laser fences and firestorm defense system protecting CABAL.
  • Third Objective: Destroy CABAL's Core.

Mission script[]

EVA: There are three control stations in this sector regulating CABAL's defenses. Capture these stations and retrieve the codes to disable his defenses.

CABAL: [Laughs manically]

On capturing the first and second control stations
Engineer: Code fragment received!
On capturing the final control station
EVA: Control station captured.
Engineer: Code fragment retrieved!... Nod is uploading the final pieces of the code now, stand by... Firestorm is offline!

The whole map is revealed. The Firestorm wall surrounding CABAL's core is disabled.

Incoming transmission...
The Core Defender activates and makes its way towards the GDI base.

Ending[]

Cortez: Operation Lazarus will want you back, Commander. Good luck.

EVA: Dr. Boudreau on secure channel 4.

Cortez (at the same time): Standby, Commander. Gabriella...

Boudreau: General Cortez! We've recovered the segments of the Tacitus, or... what used to be segments. The two segments have somehow merged. Keep in mind, we're dealing with complete unknowns regarding the Tacitus. I don't know- My God...

Cortez: Doctor, what's happened?

Boudreau: We've found the Rosetta Stone! Data! Paul, millions of teraquads of data! [Laughs] READABLE DATA! I think we've got an answer, it was like an incomplete lens, that wouldn't be able to focus without the second piece! We're seeing... formulas, engineering data, genetic codes... material I can't even begin to recognize. It'll take some time, but at least now we have all the pieces. We can reconstruct the puzzle from this.

Cortez: Dr. Boudreau, we, uh... made a pretty good team on this one.

Boudreau: Too bad we couldn't say the same for our marriage. I've got work to do, Paul. Boudreau out.

EVA: General Cortez, initial contact with Philadelphia EVA unit is reestablished. Attempting prompt re-enstatement of voice and video contact.

Cortez: Put them on, EVA. I think we've finally got some news they really gonna wanna hear...
