Awakening

Parker awakens from bed in a prison cell, in the GDI Supermax.

Rios: Yes, the criminals are in custody and will be dealt swift justice. I'd like to also make clear that the TCN is not only secure but is in its final testing phase.

Blair: Earlier today we received the shocking video showing Dr. Pascal's brutal murder at the hands of Gideon.

Video footage plays of Gideon's murder of the doctor.

[Gideon Kills Pascal]

Blair: Pascal was apparently one of five recipients of an optical implant connected to the TCN. This makes four of five recipients murdered by Gideon's crack squad.

News Crawl

• World leaders shaken after coup attempt at GDI Central Command.
• Stocks tumble in response to the incident.
• New poll suggests a growing skepticism over the TCN and its perilous progress. 20% of pollsters think the TCN project is a plot led by GDI council members who are under the control of Scrin Masterminds.
• Yellow Zone orphanage caught in crossfire during GDI cleanup operation. Sergeant Daniel Stojack who was at the site claims that children were speaking in Nod's secret language and appeared to be "conspiring" against him and his men.

Ex Machina

A figure approaches Parker's cell.

Duquette: This one.

Parker's cell door opens.

Duquette: No time for introductions. Let's move. Stay close, somebody important wants you out...

A nearby crazed prisoner reaches his arm out. A prison guard comes forward with a stun baton.

Prisoner: I can stop him! I can stop him...

Duquette: Get used to that. Once you're out, they'll be gunning for you. But, it's better than being down here, where you don't exist.

Duquette and Parker approach two guards.

Duquette: Case.

The guard Barker hands Duquette a briefcase, while Parker gets another brief vision of the Scrin Tower from his implant.

Duquette: Dismissed.

The two guards leave. Duquette opens the briefcase, revealing a pistol and combat uniform.

Duquette: James is at the tower, but she's going to need support. I've arranged for a gap in the security rotation. There's no one between here and Dock 3L. [Holds up card] I bought you ten minutes. You get caught, you're on your own. Now get moving.
