Mission script[]

Introduction[]

[The Guardian tank, Hammer tank and Tsunami tank appear.]

Guardian Tank: Oy, welcome to Command & Conquer Red Alert 3. I'm an Allied Guardian Tank, and these prats and I are here to tell you about how we think you should be doing your job. Sir.
Hammer Tank: Yes. We have temporarily called a truce to make sure you do not send us to our deaths needlessly. To begin with, we will tell you how to move your viewpoint around the battlefield and how to command your units, including the best ones such as me, the Soviet Hammer Tank! Just look at this body compared with the teeny little Japanese tank to my left.
Tsunami Tank: Shut up! [Fires at the Hammer Tank]
Hammer Tank: Ow!
Tsunami Tank: Please excuse him, sir. Let us begin.

Primary Objective 1: Learn Camera Controls[]

Guardian Tank: Coh, blimey...right, OK... To move your camera around the battlefield, just hold down the right mouse button and slide your mouse around./move your left stick around. Try moving your camera now.
Tsunami Tank: Try moving your camera now.
Hammer Tank: You may also move your cursor to the far edges of the screen!
Guardian Tank: Easy enough. Now, to rotate the camera, hold down the middle mouse button and move the mouse around/move the right stick left or right.
Tsunami Tank: Try rotating your camera now.
Guardian Tank: To zoom the camera in and out, simply slide your mouse wheel/move the right stick up or down.
Tsunami Tank: Try zooming your camera now.
Guardian Tank: As you go about fussing with the camera, sir, remember you can always click the middle mouse button/click the right stick button/press the R3 button to reset the viewing angle.
Hammer Tank: My goodness, commander! You have completed your first objective!
Guardian Tank: Right proper, you have. Objectives, as you might have surmised, are special goals you need to accomplish in order to progress through the campaigns.
Tsunami Tank: In general, objectives will be labeled using special markers out on the battlefield. Follow the onscreen indicators to get to them.
Guardian Tank: If at any time you're not sure what in blazes you're supposed to be doing, hit the Escape key/START button to pay a visit to the mission menu. It'll list all your current objectives.
Hammer Tank: Good! Now that you have an idea for how to move around the battlefield, let's move on to controlling your units. Here comes some of our hated enemies now!

[A Century Bomber flies west, paradropping 3 Peacekeepers.]

Guardian Tank: Right. To select a unit, just left-click on it/move your cursor over it and press the A/X button.
Tsunami Tank: Try selecting one of these Allied Peacekeepers.
Guardian Tank: Nice. He's definitely one of ours, sir.
Hammer Tank: You may also hold down the left mouse button and drag your mouse. This will create a selection box. Any units inside the selection box will be selected. And if you want more units added to your selection, hold down the Shift key and drag a selection box around those units.
Hammer Tank: You may also press and hold the A/X button for an expanded selection cursor. Any units you sweep with the cursor will be selected. And if you want more units added to your selection, hold down the Left Bumper/L1 button while selecting.
Hammer Tank: OK, now that we've reminded you how to select units, you'll need to move them around the battlefield. [The Guardian Tank fires at the Hammer Tank.] Ow!
Guardian Tank: I was getting to that. To move your units, whilst having them selected, click the right mouse button on any open terrain/press the A/X button with your cursor over the desired destination.

Primary Objective 2: Move the Peacekeers to the Designated Point[]

Tsunami Tank: Try moving your units to the designated area up ahead.
Hammer Tank: See? They obey you without question!
Tsunami Tank: Notice, Commander, how the darkened area of the battlefield revealed itself as your forces drew near. This darkened area is the Fog of War, and represents parts of the battlefield that may be hiding enemy troop movements. Be careful when venturing into unseen areas, and use your scouts to survey the terrain before committing your forces. Now up ahead are some dummy targets that you're going to destroy. They resemble real-life Soviet Conscripts, but I assure you they are merely robots we created for this exercise. See how foolishly they behave?
Hammer Tank: They seem so real... Observe that you can distinguish your forces from the robots based on the colored blips in the Radar in the upper-right corner of your battlefield control display. The color of the blips refers to the color of the different sides involved in a battle.
Tsunami Tank: If you encounter different-colored blips as you clear the Fog of War, those are likely enemy forces. So be prepared.
Tsunami Tank: If you need to take a closer look at your Radar, you can always use Radar Mode. To activate Radar Mode, pull and hold the Left Trigger/L2 button. Try this now. Hai, that is it. In Radar Mode, you may navigate the battlefield much more quickly using the left stick. You may also use the right stick to move your cursor independently of your view. This allows you to quickly order your forces anywhere on the map.
Guardian Tank: Erm... Right, so, to issue an Attack Order to your units, whilst having them selected, put your cursor over a target and click the right mouse button/press the A Button/press the X Button.
Hammer Tank: Notice that as you move your mouse cursor over those dummies, it changes to an attack cursor!

Primary Objective 3: Defeat the Training Dummies[]

Tsunami Tank: Destroy all the target dummies in the area.
Hammer Tank: So long you stupid robots!
Guardian Tank: Bloody robots. Now, in addition to issuing attack commands on specific targets, you can have your units move and attack any enemies along the way.
Hammer Tank: To issue an Attack-Move command, while having your units selected, just press the A key and right-click/double-tap the A/X button on any open terrain. You can issue Attack-Move orders on the Radar as well! You can also use an Assault-Move command by double-tapping and holding the A/X with forces selected. Then, use the wider reticle to paint enemy targets. Once you've painted some targets, release the A/X button and your forces will automatically attack those targets to the best of their ability.

Primary Objective 4: Defeat the Training Dummies Guarding the Strategic Point[]

Tsunami Tank: Now look there. [The map reveals a Burger Kong restaurant where several Soviet Conscripts and Flak Troopers apear to be queing for it.] We need you to lead us to that strategic point, yet many robots stand in the way. If you please, issue an Attack-Move order to the strategic point. You have the command. Lead us to victory!

Completion[]

Guardian Tank: Now that's a fine job you did there, Commander! You now know how to move around the battlefield as well as how to make your forces shoot their enemies dead.
Tsunami Tank: Indeed. We suggest you move on to the next lesson on building a military base for further instruction on properly commanding an army.
Hammer Tank: See you there!

[The three tanks each fire confetti.]
