This page includes a transcript of The Great Bear Trap, the eighth and penultimate Allied mission of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3.[1]
Introduction[]
Bingham: Magnificent! A fateful day indeed for the Empire, though, perhaps not the fate that they had in mind. I don't understand what happened to those Russians, though. They'd better have a good explanation.
Eva: Sir, a top Soviet scientist has defected to Berlin! His name is Doctor Gregor Zelinsky. I have him connected. He says he has an urgent message that he'll only deliver to you two.
Bingham: Put him through.
Zelinsky enters the transmission.
Zelinsky: Ah, Mr. Bingham, thank you- you must listen to me! Nothing is as it should be!
Bingham: Alright, calm down.
Zelinsky: This war never should have happened! We went back in time to save ourselves, and everything changed! This Empire, for example, from Japan didn't even exist in the original space time continuum.
Bingham: What are you talking about?
Zelinsky: We have created time machine!
Bingham: A time machine?
Zelinsky: Yes! Yes, you must believe me! Everything Premier Cherdenko has told you is a lie! And now he's preparing a full-scale assault from a secret base in Cuba!
Bingham: What?! Eva? Can we confirm this?
Eva: Hold on sir... [Pulls up satellite feed of Cuba] The Doctor's claims may be true, sir. We're seeing some Soviet ships arriving in Havana Harbor, bearing some sort of mysterious cargo.
Bingham: Doctor, we're not through with you yet. We have many more questions and we're gonna need answers.
Zelinsky: Thank you.
Zelinsky leaves the transmission.
Bingham: Commander, clearly you have to find out what's happening in Cuba...
Briefing[]
Eva: We're going off Dr. Zelinsky's information here, so I don’t know how much I can give you on this one. I'm sorry, I wish I could do better. You’re going to have to snoop around to see what you can find. Time is of the essence here, with Cuba being so close to the US mainland. Use your Spies to avoid detection, and possibly bribe any enemies that stand in your way. Good luck.
Mission summary[]
Intelligence: We have reasonable suspicions of Soviet activity here in Havana. Allied command is concerned, due to this region's proximity to several Allied nations. Your mission here is as follows:
- Your expeditionary force must discover the nature and strength of the Soviet forces here.
- Be prepared to engage Soviet forces if necessary.

Mirage Tank - The Allies' high-tech Mirage Tank is the ultimate anti-tank assassin. Its spectrum cannon can tear through armor, and it camouflages itself while still. Plus its special ability makes nearby units invisible!
Mission script[]
[Two Spies and two Attack Dogs are parachuted onto an island while a Mirage Tank is chronoshifted in.]
Eva: You're going to have to look around and see what you can find. Employ your spies to avoid detection.
Primary Objective 1: Investigate Havana for Soviet Activity[]
Giles: Ah, marvelous to see you again, Commander. Look, we have to be careful not to alert the enemy. If you stay under the shield projected by my Mirage Tank, you'll be invisible to them. Unless, of course, you decide to attack...
Giles: Okay, here we go. Now remember, stay near me.
Giles: The Soviets must have some sort of salvage operation here.
[When the player's forces are attacked]
Giles: Watch it now, got to keep them under my Mirage cover.
[When approaching the Tesla Trooper]
Giles: Stay near me, you don't want to get zapped.
[Upon reaching the stadium]
Giles: I think we've seen enough to know that something big is going on here.
Primary Objective 2: Locate a Soviet Base[]
Giles: There must be a base nearby, we should find it.
[When the Mirage Tank approaches the row of Soviet soldiers]
Giles: Never thought I would get saluted by the likes of them.
Intelligence: Kill or bribe the soldiers to clear the way for the mirage tank.
[After the player kills or bribes the Soviet Conscripts and Flak Troopers]
Giles: Look, real Apocalypse Tanks! Back up! Back up!/Let's take them on! Disengaging gap generator and switching to combat mode.
[After the player destroys or bribes the Apocalypse Tanks.]
Giles: Looks like they're all gone. Let's start moving again.
[Upon reaching the Soviet base]
Giles: I knew we'd find their base.
Primary Objective 3: Destroy the Soviet Base[]
Giles: Let's level this place! Mirage field disengaging. Fire at will!
[Upon completing the objective]
Giles: I knew my top scores at the academy would get us through this. [The stadium behind the destroyed base transforms, while launching a Kirov Airship.] Hold on a second... is that... a Kirov? It's coming out of a baseball stadium?
Oleg: That's right! A baseball stadium. Each Kirov is equipped with a 50 megaton bomb and is heading towards an Allied city of our choosing. Dasvedanya. [Laughs]
Intermission[]
Eva: This is madness! The Soviets are hell-bent on total destruction! You need to take out all of those Stadiums and destroy every single Kirov that launches, Commander. If just one of them gets away, some undefended city will certainly be destroyed.
Intelligence: The Soviet Union is staging bombing runs from Havana using modified sporting arenas. These arenas all must be destroyed. Ensure none of the Soviet Kirov Airships exits this airspace. Our information network should have seen this sooner. Please forgive us, and good luck.
Giles: Reinforcements have arrived. Let's build up and roll out!
Primary Objective 4: Destroy the Kirov Launch Facilities[]
Giles: I must say, sir, working with you is anything but dull. I'm gonna try and keep those Kirovs from escaping. Maybe you could focus on taking out those annoying stadiums?
[When the stadium deep within the Soviet's main base is revealed]
Giles: There's another baseball field with a Kirov rising out of it.
[When the stadium south-east of the player's main base is revealed]
Giles: The Olympic pool is now transforming.
[When the first stadium is destroyed]
Oleg: So you destroyed one sports arena. Don't worry, we have plenty of Kirovs to go around.
[When two stadiums are destroyed]
Oleg: You are like an annoying housefly. Bzzz, bzzz, bzzz! [Claps hands together] It's time to swat the fly.
Primary Objective 5: Do Not Let a Kirov Leave Havana[]
[When a Kirov Airship emerges]
Intelligence: There is another Kirov in the sky.
Intelligence: They've launched another Kirov.
[When Giles destroys a Kirov for the first time]
Giles: Another Kirov down. I just saved this city!
[If a Kirov is close to leaving the map]
Intelligence: That Kirov is about to get away.
[If a Kirov is almost close to leaving the map]
Intelligence: A Kirov is almost out of Havana- you must not let it get away.
[Upon destroying a Kirov that is almost about to leave the map for the first time]
Bingham: That one almost got away, Commander. You'd better wake up!
Completion[]
Giles: It's been a pleasure and an honor, sir. This has been quite some ride. In fact, I think I might just write a book about it. Maybe some day we can share a single malt together, eh? Cheers, Commander.
Bingham: Ah, thank heavens! That's a load off our backs. That could have been quite disastrous.
Mission failure[]
[Failing Primary Objectives 1, 2 or 3 due to either the player or co-commander losing all of their units.]
Giles: *sigh. Now we will never know what the Soviets are up to here...
Intelligence: All of your troops have been killed. Mission Failed.
[Failing Primary Objective 5]
Intelligence: A Kirov escaped our grasp. Aborting mission.
[When failing the mission in any way, including the player's entire base being destroyed during Primary Objectives 4 and 5]
Bingham: How could you let this happen?! Whole cities are going to be lost!
