The mobile construction vehicle, also referred to as the mobile construction yard, is the foundation of a base in Tiberian Dawn.

Background
While considered by many historians to be the first mobile construction vehicles, the MCV's used in TWI were actually based on similar vehicles used during Second World War by the Allied and Soviet forces. Much like those models, the TWI MCV's were designed to provide supplies and heavy construction equipment anywhere on the battlefield so that portable bases could be built, and they were used on both sides of the conflict.

Being huge and extremely dense thanks to the volumes of heavy equipment stored within them, the "first" MCV's were both very slow and very cumbersome, being unable to make anything other than the widest of turns while moving. While being very tough, TWI MCV's could be quickly destroyed by concentrated tank fire, making any MCV that found its way onto the battlefield late in the conflict extremely vulnerable. GDI and Nod commanders were urged to unpack their MCV's as soon as they could locate a proper deployment zone in order to mitigate these shortcomings.

TWI MCV's used a combination of manpower, computer resource management, and cutting edge robotics (for the time) to coordinate and unpack. While the technology of the 1990s paled in comparison to the technology the MCV's of the following Tiberium wars would boast, it was still functional enough to make the MCV an indespensible asset for any army of the time.

During the Second Tiberium War, these units were replaced by the second generation of MCVs.
