A War factory is the primary vehicle construction building in Red Alert 1.
Background[]
“ | This structure is responsible for the building of all ground -based [...] vehicles. Building multiple War Factories decreases the amount of time required to create a vehicle. - Command & Conquer: Red Alert manual |
” |
The war factory is a large structure, resembling an oversized garage. Basically, it consists of a central open area where actual manufacturing of the unit would take place, a collection of robot welding arms, a smelter, and various other small processes related to the manufacturing of parts for the assembly of units. The robotic arms though had to be guided by human minds therefore factions using war factories employed engineers into them to make sure there was no fault in the vehicle.
During the Third World War, both the Allies and the Soviets used a new design, with the ability to produce air units except jet aircraft such as the Harrier.
On the other hand, it was the basis for the Global Defense Initiative to create their Weapons factory in the First Tiberium War.
Game building[]
This large building is extremely susceptible to heavier weapons and the Hind's chaingun. They can literally tear it apart. The more war factories built the faster vehicles are built.
Capturing the opposing side's War Factory enables any of them to produce whatever vehicles for either side were available with the player's current buildings.
